Abstract: Described are product or catalog configuration systems and methods for allowing only valid combinations of attributes to be selected. The invention receives as an input a record set of all the product variants for a given product. Then, dropdowns, or other input portions, for each distinct value per variant dimension are exposed. As the user interacts with the configurator by selecting a variant value, the product record set is filtered by the selections made and the remaining variants are repopulated with only the valid choices for the given variant selections made.
