Publication number: 20160226951Abstract: The embodiments described herein generally relate to a protocol for implementing data operations, e.g., a version of SMB, atop RDMA transports. In embodiments, systems and methods use the protocol definition, which specifies new messages for negotiating an RDMA connection and for transferring SMB2 data using the negotiated communication. A new protocol message may include new header information to determine message size, number of messages, and other information for sending the SMB2 data over RDMA. The header information is used to accommodate differences in message size requirements between RDMA and SMB2. The SMB Direct protocol allows SMB2 data to be fragmented into multiple individual RDMA messages that a receiver may then logically concatenate into a single SMB2 request or SMB2 response. The SMB Direct protocol also may allow SMB2 to transfer application data via efficient RDMA direct placement and to signal the application data's availability when the transfer is complete.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2016Publication date: August 4, 2016Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Thomas M. Talpey, Gregory Robert Kramer, David Matthew Kruse

Patent number: 9068123Abstract: A new approach to the production of coke. In this process multiple optimized value streams are produced from a coke facility located at mine mouth or locally at an existing plant. As part of the process, lower cost Indiana/Illinois Basin-type coals are blended with conventional metallurgical coals. The blending process is optimized to meet coke quality requirements and simultaneously to obtain a pyrolysis gas composition suitable for production of ancillary products including liquid transportation fuels, fertilizer, hydrogen, and electricity. By using lower cost Indiana/Illinois Basin coal it is possible to reduce net coal costs. This process provides a new direction and approach for the production of coke in the future that optimizes value over multiple product streams while reducing both business and technological risk.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2012Date of Patent: June 30, 2015Assignee: Purdue Research FoundationInventors: Robert A. Patent number: 8826209Abstract: Defect characterization is a useful tool for analyzing and improving fabrication for semiconductor chips. By using layout and netlist in combination with images of semiconductors, defects can be identified and analyzed. Electrical simulation can be performed on the netlist, based on the presence of the defect that was detected. Layout geometries where the defect was detected can be binned and a search can be performed of the remainder of the layout for similar groupings of layout geometries. Various representations of the semiconductor can be cross mapped, including layout, schematic, and netlist. The presence of certain defects can be correlated to yield, performance, and other characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2012Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Synopsys, Inc.Inventors: James Robert Kramer, Ankush Oberai
