  • Patent number: 6552157
Abstract: The present invention relates to polyurethanes containing secondary amide groups in the backbones of the polyurethanes, wherein the secondary amide groups (calculated as NH—CO—, MW 43) are present in an amount of 1 to 14% by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethanes, and correspond to the formula —X1—R1—NH—C(O)—R2—X2—  (I) wherein X1 and X2 are the same or different and represent the groups obtained by removing a hydrogen atom from a hydroxy group or a primary or secondary amino group and R1 and R2 are the same or different and represent linear or branched hydrocarbon groups that are optionally substituted by groups that do not contain isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms. The present invention also relates to one-component, thermoset compositions containing the polyurethanes with secondary amide groups in the backbone and a cross-linking component that is reactive with amide groups.

  • Patent number: 4289840
Abstract: A photographic processing sleeve is provided for receiving and processing a dye donating instant film sheet to produce borderless photographic prints. The sleeve is constructed of first and second sheets coupled together to form a pocket therebetween for receiving the film sheet. One of the sheets includes a central section which carries materials for immobilizing the dyes donated by the film sheet to form a visible picture in the central section. A stripping sheet forms an outermost surface of one face of the sleeve and releasably couples the central section of the first sheet to the remainder of the sleeve so the stripping sheet and the picture in the central section can be stripped away from the remainder of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4236798
Abstract: A film pack, which includes a stack of instant-processing film units received in a housing, has a slide plate that is permanently coupled to the housing for reciprocal movement between a first position residing in the stack and a second position removed from the stack. Initially the slide plate serves as a dark slide to shield the film units from fogging through an exposure aperture in the housing. When reciprocated, however, such as in a processing camera, the slide plate is guided to enter the stack behind the forwardmost film unit, and to remove that unit from the housing through an exit slot. The slide plate can also support the forwardmost film unit in the exposure position, shield other than the forwardmost unit from exposure when the film units are transparent, and assist in controlling processing of the film units.

  • Patent number: 4190447
Abstract: A cover sheet for an integral imaging receiver element comprises a support, a neutralizing layer, at least one timing layer and an alkali permeable hydrophilic layer. The cover sheet may also contain a second alkali permeable layer coated over the alkali permeable hydrophilic layer to promote adhesion of the cover sheet to the other components of the film unit. The photographic film units containing the cover sheets are substantially free from dark spot imperfections and are resistant to delamination of the unit.

  • Patent number: 4148652
Abstract: An instant-processing film unit of the preregistered type is adapted for use in commercially available adapters for professional type cameras. The film unit includes a photosensitive element for recording a processable latent image, a cover sheet for facilitating the distribution of a processing composition over the element, and an internal dark slide removably positioned between the photosensitive element and cover sheet for shielding one side of the element from premature exposure. The dark slide extends from between the photosensitive element and cover sheet through an opening at one end of the film unit, and is provided with an opaque hood which is attached to the dark slide and encloses the opening to protect such end from light leaks.

  • Patent number: 4042396
Abstract: In a photographic film unit having a pair of sheets connected in superposition with a photosensitive layer located between the sheets, a container carrying a quantity of processing composition is arranged to provide for the discharge of the composition to between the sheets at the leading end of the film unit. A fluid receiver or trap is provided at the trailing end of the film unit to receive and store excess processing composition after it has been spread between the sheets. The trap includes trap spacing means, trap cover means, and trap-venting means formed of a plurality of holes through the trap cover means. The improvement comprises a processing-composition-impervious layer on the surface of and substantially coextensive with the trap spacing means adjacent the trap cover means whereby the processing composition is restrained from reaching the trap-venting holes without restraining air or gas from reaching the venting holes for escape from the film unit.

  • Patent number: 4002517
Abstract: A wound roll of filmstrip of the type having a photographic emulsion layer on one strip face and a raised stripe disposed along one edge of the opposite strip face is so formed as to produce temporary adhesion between the stripe of one convolution and the emulsion layer of an adjacent convolution. Such adhesion or tacking, restricts relative movement of the convolutions, thereby avoiding effective axial expansion of the roll and the resultant generation of undue frictional forces during advancement of the strip through a cartridge in which it is housed.Such tacking may be achieved by forming the strip into a roll and by so applying energy to a flat end face of the roll as to cause localized melting of the emulsion layer of one convolution at its interface with the raised stripe of an adjacent convolution, whereupon subsequent cooling and rehardening of the emulsion produces adhesion of the convolutions at such interface.
