  • Patent number: 10688543
Abstract: A device for the destruction of biohazardous waste converts harmful waste products into environmentally friendly discharge in compliance with environmental protection agency (EPA) standards. The device includes a waste disposal chamber where a crucible resides. The crucible contains a basket for holding the waste which is heated through induction coils that surround the crucible. The waste is vaporized and ionized in a vacuum forming a waste gas and drawn through a catalytic converter and a hot plasma jet via vacuum suction. The waste gas is then exhausted via a discharge duct where is it condensed by a heat exchanger further refining the waste gas into environmentally friendly molecules such as carbon dioxide. The waste destruction device further includes a programmable logic controller and user interface to control the device. Once the waste destruction process is completed, a compressor passes compressed air over the crucible to rapidly cool the crucible.

  • Publication number: 20200190455
Abstract: A perfusion manifold assembly is described that allows for perfusion of a microfluidic device, such as an organ on a chip microfluidic device comprising cells that mimic cells in an organ in the body, that is detachably linked with said assembly so that fluid enters ports of the microfluidic device from a fluid reservoir, optionally without tubing, at a controllable flow rate. A culture module is contemplated that allows the perfusion and optionally mechanical actuation of one or more microfluidic devices, such as organ-on-a-chip microfluidic devices comprising cells that mimic at least one function of an organ in the body.

  • Publication number: 20200179137
Abstract: The disclosure provides apparatus and methods of use pertaining to a bidirectional biomechanical prosthetic finger assembly. In one embodiment, the assembly includes an eccentric metacarpophalangeal (MCP) pivot configured for swivelable attachment to a hand of a user, a distal coupler, and an articulation assembly rotatively coupled therebetween. A ring configured to receive a user's residual finger is disposed upon the articulation assembly, and may be adjusted to a target location based on a length of the residual finger. The articulation assembly is configured to utilize vertical movements of the residual finger within the ring to articulate the distal coupler within a plane parallel to an x-z plane, and the MCP pivot is configured to utilize lateral movements of the residual finger within the ring to articulate the distal coupler within a plane parallel to an x-y plane. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10639168
Abstract: The disclosure provides apparatus and methods of use pertaining to a biomechanical finger brace assembly. In one embodiment, the assembly includes a coupling tip, a proximal ring configured to concentrically receive a user's finger, a distal ring configured to concentrically receive the finger, and a rocker formed in an H-shape. The distal ring and the rocker are pivotally suspended between a proximal coordinated pivot point anchored on the proximal ring and a distal coordinated pivot point anchored on the coupling tip, such that movements of the finger within the proximal ring articulate the distal ring together with the rocker to articulate the coupling tip. The coupling tip may include an open end or an enclosed recess to accept a minimally-amputated or non-amputated finger. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200116278
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved system and method for the assembly and installation of pipeline. In accordance with aspects of the invention, the pipeline is assembled at one or more assembly sites located at a particular location of a pipeline route. The pipeline is pulled out of the assembly site and along a trench using a transport unit, such as a winch. The trench may contain a plurality of conveyance units, such as rollers, over which the pipeline is conveyed. The pipeline may continue to be pulled through the trench as portions of the pipeline are assembled at the assembly site, and the pipeline may be pulled until the pipeline has reached a desired location within the trench.

  • Publication number: 20200096404
Abstract: A transmitter for measuring a process pressure includes a pressure sensor and a temperature sensor providing an input temperature signal. A first remote pressure sensitive diaphragm couples to the transmitter by a first capillary tube filled with a fill fluid having a density as a function of fill fluid temperature. An input circuit is operably connected to at least the pressure sensor and provides an intermediate pressure signal at least roughly representative of the process pressure. A correcting circuit is coupled to the temperature sensor and to the input circuit. The correcting circuit processes the intermediate pressure signal by compensating for the fill fluid density as a function of the temperature and provides a compensated output more closely representative of the process pressure. The correction circuit further performs an initial height determination based upon a pressure measurement made while no pressure is applied to the first diaphragm.
