  • Patent number: 5275068
Abstract: The handle assembly comprises a beam which extends from an area on the user's forearm to just beyond the user's knuckles between the phalanges and metatarsals. A saddle at the forearm end distributes loads over the forearm area. The saddle may be fitted with a adjustable strap to hold the saddle in place. There is a journal at the knuckle end, the axis of the journal being essentially parallel to the beam and positioned such that the hub of a hand grip attached to a shaft in the journal fits between the fore and middle fingers of the users hand. An adaptor is attached to the shaft to facilitate attaching any of a variety of tools or implements to the assembly. In one embodiment of the invention the grip comprises a second saddle which engages the wrist joint for the hand. Mounting the grip and adaptor on the journalled shaft enables altering the active direction of the tool or implement without moving the forearm saddle on the arm.

  • Patent number: 5087006
Abstract: The subject apparatus is used to reduce the effective width of a slot. The apparatus is a liner installable in the slot and retained in the slot by engagement of projections from the exterior surfaces of the liner with holes in the slot surfaces. The liner is resilient. Its sides are flared and then flexed flat upon installation in the slot. The restoring force caused by the flexing helps hold the projections in the holes and the edges of the liner against the sides of the slot.

  • Patent number: 4606123
Abstract: Cutlery apparatus with readily interchangeable cutting tools such as knives, the cutting tools being either double ended or a plurality of single ended tools pivotally mounted in a handle, either directly between the handle sides or on a generally U-shaped tool holding member which is in turn pivotally movable in and out of a slotted handle, the apparatus being further provided with lock arm means also pivotally mounted on the handle, forming a part of the handle when closed and retaining the tool rigidly in the handle without use of spring means when the tool is locked in the handle in a position of use. The apparatus which in certain embodiments is of a type commonly called swap blade knives, is readily disassembleable for tool interchange or cleaning. Double ended knives embodying the invention have the strength of a full tang knife with the versatility of a multi-bladed folding knife.
