  • Publication number: 20190101157
Abstract: The renovated bearing and the method of constructing the renovated bearing includes a trimmed off foundation base with a new wear block secured to the foundation base and adapted to bear against a rotating shaft to keep it from vibrating or otherwise rotating out of true. By reusing, or rather continuing using, a foundation base portion of an existing bearing, only the duty wearing block component can be replaced simply and economically. This reduces wastage of the larger bearing composition mass. A like-new bearing can be assembled quickly and more economically than a complete replacement of a bearing.

  • Patent number: 9885338
Abstract: A wind turbine system includes turbine blades connected to a nose hub that is connected to a main turbine shaft. A flywheel is mounted around the main turbine shaft proximate to the nose hub. A bearing assembly is fixed to a turbine tower and is mounted around at least a portion of the flywheel. The bearing assembly includes a bearing housing and a main bearing fixed therein having a main bearing faced adapted to be in contact with or within a close tolerance to the circular outside diameter surface of the flywheel. This main bearing may be comprised of lignum vitae wood.

  • Patent number: 9233447
Abstract: A hone insert is adapted for use in a rotating shaft system that has a segmented stave bearing housing. The stave bearing housing includes multiple stave bearing inserts that retain the rotating shaft. The hone insert is supported by a mounting bar section and a support pad that bears a hone layer against the face of the rotating shaft. Accordingly, as the shaft rotates against the hone layer, the surface of the shaft is made more smooth.
