  • Publication number: 20110153469
Abstract: A system is provided for managing mobile inventory within a virtual warehouse. The system includes mobile units, each configured to house a respective portion of the mobile inventory. The system further includes communication devices, each configured to collect respective data relating to the portion of the mobile inventory within each mobile unit. Additionally, the system includes a central station in communication with the communication devices, to receive the respective data and to optimize a movement of the mobile inventory within a service area, based on the respective data. The central station is also in communication with a plurality of delivery locations, to receive a delivery request from a respective delivery location of a requested inventory and a requested delivery location, and to determine a movement of the mobile inventory, based on the respective data, respective locations of the mobile units, requested inventory and delivery location.

  • Publication number: 20110054731
Abstract: A system and method a bi-directional wireless information system includes a plurality of sensor nodes spaced along a path of travel of an object, each of the sensor nodes corresponding to a specified location along the path of travel. The system also includes a transceiver associated with the object, the transceiver configured to communicate with the plurality of sensor nodes, such that a location of the object is determinable based on wireless communication between the transceiver and the plurality of sensor nodes. A central database included in the system is configured to receive the location of the object from at least one of the transceiver and the plurality of sensor nodes, receive object-specific data from at least one of the transceiver and the plurality of sensor nodes, and transmit location-specific data to the transceiver.

  • Publication number: 20100262366
Abstract: A mileage estimation system comprising a data collection module, a route determination module, a learning module, and a mileage calculation module is provided. The data collection module receives data corresponding to a position and time of a moving asset from a remote location and the route determination module obtains information from a map database for determining a plurality of routes between at least two location of the moving asset. The learning module in the system determines a route travelled by the moving asset from the plurality of routes based on mileage estimation criterion, and the mileage calculation module estimates the distance travelled by the moving asset based on the route travelled by the moving asset.

  • Publication number: 20080143593
Abstract: A system for providing asset management and tracking capabilities of a tractor-trailer system includes a trailer device coupled to a trailer. A tractor device is coupled to a tractor and configured to communicate with the trailer device using a first communication protocol. A hand held device is configured to communicate with the trailer device using a second communication protocol and with the tractor device using a third communication protocol. A remote monitoring center is configured to communicate with the trailer device, the tractor device, the hand held device, using a fourth communication protocol; wherein the remote monitoring center is configured to monitor the tractor-trailer system based on association between the trailer device, the tractor device, and the hand held device.
