  • Patent number: 11227586
Abstract: Systems and methods improving the performance of statistical model-based single-channel speech enhancement systems using a deep neural network (DNN) are disclosed. Embodiments include a DNN-trained system to predict speech presence in the input signal, and this information can be used to create frameworks for tracking noise and conducting a priori signal to-noise ratio estimation. Example frameworks provide increased flexibility for various aspects of system design, such as gain estimation. Examples include training a DNN to detect speech in the presence of both noise and reverberation, enabling joint suppression of additive noise and reverberation. Example frameworks provide significant improvements in objective speech quality metrics relative to baseline systems.

  • Publication number: 20150302859
Abstract: A system and method for processing of audio and speech signals is disclosed, which provide compatibility over a range of communication devices operating at different sampling frequencies and/or bit rates. The analyzer of the system divides the input signal in different portions, at least one of which carries information sufficient to provide intelligible reconstruction of the input signal. The analyzer also encodes separate information about other portions of the signal in an embedded manner, so that a smooth transition can be achieved from low bit-rate to high bit-rate applications. Accordingly, communication devices operating at different sampling rates and/or bit-rates can extract corresponding information from the output bit stream of the analyzer. In the present invention embedded information generally relates to separate parameters of the input signal, or to additional resolution in the transmission of original signal parameters.

  • Patent number: 4682834
Abstract: A multiple contact connector has an elongate actuating member which is reciprocally mounted in a housing holding the contacts, the contacts in one or more linear arrays. On longitudinal reciprocation of the actuating membert it is also caused to reciprocate up and down in a direction normal to the longitudinal direction. In so doing it pushes on the contacts, deflecting them sideways. The connector is then assembled or inserted, after which the actuating member is moved to release the contacts. A substantially zero insertion force is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4149767
Abstract: A self-shearing connector for electrical conductors comprises a helical spring of rectangular cross-section wire around a central member extending from a body member. The spring has an upper or end turn with an end part of an external diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the next or lower turn. On compression of the spring the end part of the upper or end turn is pushed down into the next turn shearing off the end of the conductor. The conductor is gripped between the lower turn and the body or between the spring turns. If the conductor is insulated, the gripping pressure splits the insulation at opposite sides of the conductor to provide electrical contact.
