The method encompasses the use of a cyclodextrin polymer made by forming a water-insoluble cross-linked cyclodextrin polymer to treat water contaminated with the polychlorinated biphenyl compounds. Both a batch and a continuous method are disclosed. Both methods operate at ambient conditions. Additionally, a method to absorb the polychlorinated biphenyl is disclosed.
