  • Patent number: 6546670
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transplanting a seedling and/or plant from a container that substantially reduces damage to the seedling and/or plant. The container includes at least one upstanding sidewall and an outwardly extending flange at an upper portion thereof. The upper portion includes slots therein which define a tab therebetween. A stress riser proximate an end of the slot is formed when the tab is manually forced downward, resulting in a portion of the sidewall stripping away to expose the contents of container. The contents of the container can thereby be easily and quickly removed without substantially damaging the seedling and/or the plant therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 2002
Date of Patent: April 15, 2003
