Patent number: 5816929Abstract: A new golf swing training device has a club with an elongated shaft with a hand grip at one end and a club head at the other end. A hinge is interposed between the first and second ends to allow the club head to break both rearwardly and forwardly. A spring biased projection cooperates with a recess so that different forces are required to break the club head in one direction, i.e., rearwardly, relative to a second force required to break the club in a second direction, i.e., forwardly. The tension of the hinge may also be adjusted. Access to the adjusting member is accessible from a location adjacent and non-aligned with the longitudinal axis of the club. In one embodiment, the hinge may be defined by a male/female assembly. In another embodiment, the hinge is defined by substantially identical side-by-side members.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1996Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: R.M.&G Products, Inc.Inventors: Robert C. Koch, Alfred J. Koch

Patent number: 4854585Abstract: A golf swing training device including a two-way hinge mechanism interposed between the grip and head of a golf club shaft. The hinge mechanism includes a female member having yoke portions defining a cavity adapted to receive a male member therebetween. A pivot pin is received through aligned apertures to permit articulating movement of the male member relative to the female member.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Inventors: Alfred E. Koch, Robert C. Koch

Rubber compositions and articles thereof having improved metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention
Patent number: 4480066Abstract: Vulcanizable rubber compositions and articles such as tires having improved metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention to brass and brass-plated metallic reinforcement. The improvement comprises substituting at least about 10.0 parts by weight of a halogenated rubber for non-halogenated rubber present in the vulcanizable rubber composition. The non-halogenated rubber can be natural or synthetic or blends thereof. A method for improving the metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention between a vulcanizable rubber and brass or brass-plated metallic reinforcement includes the steps of blending at least about 10.0 parts by weight of a halogenated rubber with up to about 90.0 parts by weight of a vulcanizable rubber essentially free of other halogenated rubber and curing the blend of rubbers with the brass or brass-plated metallic reinforcement embedded therein.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1983Date of Patent: October 30, 1984Assignee: The Firestone Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: James A. Davis, Robert C. Koch -
Patent number: 4419470Abstract: Naturally occurring dark, tacky, low softening thermoplastic resins of low acid number can be used as substitutes for all or part of the non-elastomeric petroleum-derived components of rubber stocks used for manufacture of tires and other rubber articles. For example, such resins can be used to replace petroleum-derived process oils or resins, or both, used in making tires. The resins, which are derived from wood, are low softening thermoplastic resins characterized by having about 15-30% unsaponifiables, 3-20% rosin acids, 3-15% fatty acids and 5-15% sterols. A typical useful resin is commerically available under the name Pamak TP.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1982Date of Patent: December 6, 1983Assignee: The Firestone Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: James A. Davis, Robert C. Koch
