  • Patent number: 4579895
Abstract: The invention relates to a homogeneous fluid composition which can be shaped, consisting of N-methylpyrrolidone-2, poly-para-phenyleneterephthalamide in an amount of 5 to 7% by weight, relative to the weight of the composition, calcium chloride or lithium chloride, and a tertiary amine with a pK H.sub.2 O equal to at most 6.60, and also to the process for its production. The composition can be shaped directly to form filaments, fibres, films or fibrids which can be used, for example, in the textile industry.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 24, 1985
Date of Patent: April 1, 1986
    Assignee: Rhone-Poulenc Textile
Inventors: Robert Cuidard, Bruno Giroud-Abel, Vincent Rochina
  • Patent number: 4308004
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and a device for the production of bi-component yarns containing bilaminar and multilaminar filaments. Two polymer compositions are spun after feeding through a dichotomic mixer possessing tubes of identical internal diameter (5 to 25 mm), inside which 4 to 9 helical elements are placed in series, the leading edge of each of the elements being placed at 90.degree. relative to the trailing edge of the previous element. The process and device according to the invention can be used for all types of spinning, namely solution spinning, melt spinning, semi-melt spinning and the like. The yarns obtained contain only a minor proportion of monolaminar filaments.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 29, 1979
Date of Patent: December 29, 1981
    Assignee: Rhone-Poulenc-Textile
Inventors: Pierre Chion, Robert Cuidard, Jean Pommier, Marc Tricot

  • Patent number: 4052550
Abstract: A process of making polyvinylidene fluoride yarns and fibers of homogeneous structure and good dry strength includes the steps of spinning the solution of the polymer into a coagulating bath containing 45 to 60% by weight aprotic polar organic solvent and 40 to 55% by weight water, stretching the filaments in air to a ratio of 1.5 to 5x and then in boiling water to a ratio of 1.5 to 4x (overall stretching ratio of 3x to 6.5x) and then washing in water at room temperature.
