  • Publication number: 20240165412
Abstract: Techniques and systems for monitoring cardiac arrhythmias and delivering electrical stimulation therapy using a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter defibrillator (SICD) and a leadless pacing device (LPD) are described. For example, the SICD may detect a tachyarrhythmia within a first electrical signal from a heart and determine, based on the tachyarrhythmia, to deliver anti-tachyarrhythmia shock therapy to the patient to treat the detected arrhythmia. The LPD may receive communication from the SICD requesting the LPD deliver anti-tachycardia pacing to the heart and determine, based on a second electrical signal from the heart sensed by the LPD, whether to deliver anti-tachycardia pacing (ATP) to the heart. In this manner, the SICD and LPD may communicate to coordinate ATP and/or cardioversion/defibrillation therapy. In another example, the LPD may be configured to deliver post-shock pacing after detecting delivery of anti-tachyarrhythmia shock therapy.

  • Patent number: 6908554
Abstract: The present invention is a method of recycling animal waste into a useable soil nutrient. The method involves separating the solid and liquid fraction of an animal waste slurry and separately treating both fractions with effective amounts of activated naturally occurring soil bacteria. The method also involves adding an odor eliminating microorganism to the animal waste to reduce or eliminate the foul odor of the waste material.

  • Patent number: 6298792
Abstract: An improved hi-rail wheel assembly includes a frame connected to an axle tube surrounding an axle, a pair of railway wheels mounted in spaced relation on the axle tube, a first pair of pivotal links connected between a frame and the axle, and a second pair of pivotal links connected to the frame and the axle. The hi-rail wheel assembly is attached to a conventional roadway vehicle such that the extension of said pivotal links effects a downward lowering of the axle and the railway wheels from the frame and lifts the vehicle whereby the vehicle tires engage the railroad track, and the retraction of the pivotal links effects an upward lifting of the axle and railway wheels towards the frame such that the vehicle tires engage a ground surface or roadway. Each pivotal link includes a cam aperture and a recessed cam shoulder surrounding the cam aperture to receive a cam.

  • Patent number: 5561797
Abstract: The invention provides transaction synchronization in the form of COMMIT processing in a distributed, heterogeneous database system wherein some resources are synchronized to a transaction by a single-phase commit procedures while other resources synchronize by multi-phase commit procedures. The invention invests an application requestor at an application site with authority to represent all single-phase commit resources in multi-phase commit processing.

  • Patent number: 5257366
Abstract: Application programs which are developed and scheduled within a first computing system environment are permitted to access relational data registered at a remote database management system (DBMS) operating in a second computing environment dissimilar to the first computing environment. Access to data through the DBMS from an application execution site remote from the DBMS is supported by a process, logically subordinate to the application program which maps application program data access requests to the DBMS.

  • Patent number: 4366429
Abstract: A variable speed controller for an alternating current induction motor reestablishes the start time for firing pulses and clock pulses in a circuit having a uniform frequency generator generating firing and clock pulses. Feedback from the stator terminals sets an oscillator with a sawtooth type ramp output. Subsequent feedback from the stator terminals are compared with the output of the oscillator in a comparator that establishes a time or phase shift in the generated output having the same frequency, for resetting the firing pulses so that the frequency of current to the stator winding is a function of the relationship between the stator and rotor positions, and of the current amplitude in the stator windings. Adjustment of the circuit parameters reduces the difference between the rotor and stator positions and optimizes stator current to maintain flux balance.
