  • Patent number: 5706856
Abstract: A choke valve having a valve body in which is a valve chamber with in inlet and an outlet. A valve seat is carried in the valve chamber. A flow control member is also carried in the valve chamber for axial movement with respect to the valve seat from a closed position, preventing flow of fluids from the valve inlet to its outlet, and selected open positions which provide predetermined flow areas through which flow and pressure throttling of fluids may occur. A non-rotating stem assembly is attached to the control member for axial movement thereof. A valve bonnet is attached to the valve body and provided with a throughbore in which the stem assembly may slidingly reciprocate while positioning the flow control member. A rotating driver assembly is supported from the valve bonnet and includes a nut member threadedly engageable with another end of the stem assembly. The nut translates rotational movement of the driver assembly to axial movement of the stem assembly and the flow control member attached thereto.

  • Patent number: 4735229
Abstract: A wear monitoring device for use in a choke valve. The device includes a wear liner which fits in the flow annulus of the valve. The liner is sealed at either end from the fluid inlet valve and defines an annular void space in fluid communication with a port to the exterior of the valve. Leakage caused by flow cutting through the liner can be observed as fluid discharge from the port.

  • Patent number: 4470430
Abstract: A drilling choke for controlling flow of drilling fluids from a well comprising: a body having an inlet and outlet and an intermediate cavity therebetween; a seat member coaxially disposed in the body outlet; an operator assembly removably attached to the body; and a stem assembly connected to the operator assembly for axial movement thereof. A portion of the stem assembly is removable, upon removal of the operator assembly from the body, without otherwise disturbing the operator assembly.

  • Patent number: 4215458
Abstract: A tool for handling elements to be installed in or removed from a pressurized vessel may comprise: a housing adapted for connection and fluid communication with the pressurized vessel; a carrier assembly disposed in the housing for reciprocation therein to which elements may be attached for installation in or removal from the pressurized vessel; and first and second operator assemblies carried by the housing. The first operator assembly is engageable with the carrier assembly for reciprocation thereof between first and second terminal positions. A second operator assembly is engageable with the carrier assembly for selective rotation of the elements attached thereto.
