    Abstract: A carrier for transporting articles through pneumatic tube systems is disclosed. The carrier has first and second shells disposed about a longitudinal axis and connected by hinges such that the shells are moved transversely relative to one another when opening and closing the carrier. A seal such as a gasket or rubber seal is included within the interior of the carrier. Optionally, a sensor is used to indicate the presence of an abnormal condition within the carrier. Optionally, a lock is used to prevent opening.
