  • Patent number: 5339607
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a predetermined count and/or weight of objects into a receptacle includes a conveyor, an object sensor, a controller, a trickle-feed conveyor, and a receptacle conveyor. The conveyor conveys the objects and has at least one grouping assembly which is capable of capturing a group of objects and supporting that group of objects during conveyance. The object sensor is disposed to detect the presence of each of the groups of objects prior to discharge and relays information relating to the number of objects within each group of objects. The controller communicates with the object sensor, monitors the information relayed, generates instructions, and tracks the location of each grouping assembly from detection to discharge into the receptacle. The controller also monitors the number of objects in each group of objects discharged into the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5244100
Abstract: An apparatus for sorting objects according to preselected weight and/or visually ascertainable criteria. Each object is singulated and transported between adjacent pairs of a plurality of roller assemblies attached to a conveyor chain to be freely rotatable on an vertically slidable axis oriented normal to the conveying path. A rotation control surface along the conveying path causes rotation in the roller assemblies and in the object supported therebetween, increasing the surface of the object accessible for optical scanning. Mounted between each pair of roller assemblies is a weighing cradle subtending the object transported therebetween. The weighing cradle elevates and captures the object from its support between roller assembly so that the cradle can engage a load cell for weighing the object. Pivotally mounted between each pair of rollers and subtending the object transported therebetween is an elongated discharge plate.

  • Patent number: 4850492
Abstract: An ejection station for a conveyor sorter having a carrousel ejector wheel with reciprocating fingers. The ejector wheel has a front side mounted adjacent the edge of the supply conveyor belt. The bottom of the wheel moves at substantially the same speed as the belt and in the same direction. The ejector fingers are mounted around the outer surface of the wheel and move axially out of the front side over the conveyor belt to eject items from the belt. Operation of a finger is initiated when the nib of the finger enters a V-shaped guide groove. As the wheel rotates, the nib moves along one leg of the "V" pushing the finger out. At the middle of the groove, the direction of the finger reverses and the nib moves along the other leg of the "V" retracting the finger into the wheel.
