  • Patent number: 6004605
Abstract: A bone cap device for use over a meat cut having at least one exposed bone is provided. The meat cut is positionable inside a separate outer bag with the bone cap device cushioning the exposed bone from piercing the separate outer bag. The bone cap device comprises a first bone cap positionable over the first exposed bone. A second bone cap is positionable over the second exposed bone. A connection member connects the first bone cap to the second bone cap wherein the first bone cap and the second bone cap inhibits the first exposed bone and second exposed bone, respectively, from piercing the separate outer bag.

  • Patent number: 5164211
Abstract: An expandable bone plastic cap for meat such as beef, pork, lamb, poultry and the like. The cap is formed with at least one or more separate sheets of material in the approximate shape of portions of the meat and is designed to cushion exposed bone portions from piercing the oute vacuum sealed bag surrounding the meat. The cap is formed in one embodiment in two separate juxtaposed shapes tacked together with holes or slits cut through both shapes. As the outer bag has air removed, during the vacuum sealing, it collapes on the bone plastic cap which in turn collapses on the meat. The separate prefromed shapes collapse independently and slide upon each other with the inner shape forming the primary cushion and the outer shape forming a backup cushion. Bridging of concave areas by the bone cap is eliminated reducing growth of bacteria in these areas.

  • Patent number: 4942965
Abstract: An elongated tray designed to support a plurality of tubular objects such as fluorescent tubes when positioned in an outer package. The tray is formed with a plurality of cavities which have a plurality of tubular supporting surfaces contained therein. Each supporting surface is formed in a generally sinusoidal shape having a series of reversing curved configurations forming peaks and valleys. Each peak and valley contains approximate equal thickness material from the resilient type plastic used. As a result, controlled deformation with a controlled resilient return is obtained in the peaks and valleys to thereby result in a vastly superior tray which has improved resistance to breakage of the fluorescent tubes. The resilient plastic may be an HDPE or PP having a density ranging between 0.898-0.965 grams per cubic centimeter.

  • Patent number: 4029822
Abstract: This invention relates to a pre-formed essentially puncture-proof pliable plastic shield shaped to cover the exposed bone ends in a cut of fresh meat preparatory to encasing same in an evacuated bag which is characterized by a marginal skirt that effectively holds the shield in place while completing the packaging operation, a series of spaced pleats around the edge of the skirt that permit the latter to fold in snug against the adjacent edge of the meat cut when drawn inwardly by the collapsing bag as well as expand both endwise and lengthwise to accommodate oversize cuts, systems of pre-formed corrugations between the pleats that define channels operative to carry the juices into the areas of greatest potential stress, a plurality of pockets overlying the bone ends effective to trap the fluids squeezed from the meat and produce fluid-filled cushions, dome-like crush-resistant dimples in the corners adjacent the thick edge of the cut subjected to the greatest abuse, and ribbed surfaces covering the boneless
