Patent number: 8125482Abstract: An arrangement provides for displaying an object, such as a drawn object, or a database search result, based on a graphical user interface. A first display window is provided for specifying attributes of an object. A second window is provided for spatially inserting anchors for the object, where each anchor specifies a desired characteristic of the object, such as a pose of a face. A third window is provided for the desired object display. The anchors are placed in the second window with the aid of a controlled cursor. Placement of the cursor in the second window also controls the displayed object in the third window, which is developed based on the placement of the cursor in the second window relative to the anchors.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2008Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 7962329Abstract: A system for generating a scene description from a set of words includes modules that perform the following functions: performing a linguistic analysis on a set of words to generate a structure representation of semantic relationships between words within the set of words, converting the structure to a set of description elements representative of objects to be depicted in a scene and relationships between objects, depicting a spatial relationship by using at least one spatial tag of an associated one or more of the object, and assigning a set of depictors to each of the description elements. Each depictor in the set of depictors may include a reference to an object to be modified, parameters used in modifying the object and a procedure for modifying the object. The system may also include a module that generates the same description by execution of the procedure for the modification of the objects.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 2008Date of Patent: June 14, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventors: Robert E. Patent number: 7612778Abstract: A computer-implemented method provides for receiving via a processor a query of at least two terms, presenting a node for each term in a graphical display, positioning a cursor in the graphical display, displaying a list of results, repositioning a cursor in the graphical display based on a user input, and displaying a new list of results based on the relative weightings of at least one term associated with its node in a new processing of the query. The method also provides for receiving via a processor a query, presenting a plurality of nodes in a graphical display where each node is associated with a search engine, displaying results from processing the query using the search engine associated with the nodes, repositioning a cursor in the graphical display, and displaying a new list of results where repositioning the cursor changes the relative weightings of the search engine associated with its node.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2008Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property II, L.P.Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 7016828Abstract: The invention relates to a method of converting a set of words into a three-dimensional scene description, which may then be rendered into three-dimensional images. The invention may generate arbitrary scenes in response to a substantially unlimited range of input words. Scenes may be generated by combining objects, poses, facial expressions, environments, etc., so that they represent the input set of words. Poses may have generic elements so that referenced objects may be replaced by those mentioned in the input set of words. Likewise, a character may be dressed according to its role in the set of words. Various constraints for object positioning may be declared.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 2000Date of Patent: March 21, 2006Assignee: AT&T Corp.Inventors: Robert E. Coyne, Richard W. Sproat
