  • Patent number: 7410053
Abstract: A tool holder formed from two or more layers of material is provided. Cutouts or pockets may be formed in the tool holder corresponding with specific types and sizes of tools. An identification for each tool may be provided on the tool holder adjacent to each cutout. The identification remains visible to a reader when an associated tool is placed in each respective cutout.

  • Patent number: 5723002
Abstract: An ice pack having a bag, securement devices, and a clip. The bag has two multi-layer walls which are bonded to form a containment section, a neck, a mouth, and a clip mounting tab. The layers of the bag walls perform various functions for the ice pack. The securement devices have hook strips mounted to the bag and pile straps attached to the bag. The pile straps wrap around the object to which the ice pack is to be applied, and engage the hook strips. The clip includes two plates connected together by a hinge. The elongated hooks are positioned such that the two elongated hooks engage when the plates are rotated about the hinge, and secure the neck of the bag between the two elongated hooks. The inner surfaces of the clip are attached to the clip mounting tab located near the neck of the bag, thereby facilitating the sealing of the bag by the clip.

  • Patent number: 5379489
Abstract: A bag closure for sealing bags. The closure comprises a sheath having a trough which matingly engages a blade-like body of a wedge-shaped member. A roof portion of the sheath is dimensioned so as to be permitted to carry intelligible indicia thereon. An upper edge of the blade-like body is provided with a designated location for receiving a bag. The blade-like body slightly smaller in width than the trough, enabling the closure to clamp the bag tightly therein. A hinge strap which pivotally connects the sheath and the wedge-shaped member is dimensioned to be durable and to ensure that the blade-like body remains in proper alignment with the trough. A latch retains the closure in a closed position. In the closed position, a tip of the latch forms a protuberance is easily displaced to enable the closure to be easily opened.

  • Patent number: 5356426
Abstract: An ice pack having a reservoir, a large mouth, and a narrow neck intermediate the mouth and the reservoir. The mouth is tapered to a form funnel to permit the reservoir to be easily filled. A variance in heat exchange is provided between the opposing sides of the ice pack. Hence, one side is significantly colder than the other. Each side includes an identifiable visual characteristic which distinguishes one side from its opposite side, thus enabling an observer to determine which side of the two sides is in communication with a localized region of a patient requiring treatment. A formable element implanted within the structure of the ice pack proximate mouth enables the mouth to be easily formed into the shape of the aforementioned funnel. A safety clip is clamped upon the neck of the ice pack to retain its contents in the reservoir separate from the mouth. The clip includes a safety lock that prevents the two components from inadvertently disengaging if its hinge becomes damaged and broken.

  • Patent number: 5300037
Abstract: A unitary medical conduit holder for securing medical conduits to the skin of a patient is made of two major portions which are sonically welded or otherwise attached to one another. The first portion is a base plate or patch for adhesively securing to the skin. The second portion is a strap with wide and narrow ends which fold in opposite directions fully encircle the conduit or a bundle of conduits. Complementary pressure sensitive VELCRO type attachment surfaces are present on the upper surfaces of the base plate and the strap. In the final use position the externally exposed parts of both the base patch and the strap are smooth so as not to snag on surrounding materials. The surface of the strap which contacts the bottom of the conduit is made of or coated with a high friction material to prevent axial slipping of the encircled conduit. Typical conduits which may be conveniently held in place with this invention include tubes, lumens, catheters, electrical wiring, and optical fibers.

Abstract: A medical conduit holder for securing medical conduits to the skin of a patient is made of two major portions. The first portion is a base plate or patch for adhesively securing to the skin. The second portion is a strap which wraps back through a slot in the strap to fully encircle the conduit or group of conduits. Pressure sensitive VELCRO type attachment surfaces are present on the upper surface of the base plate and the lower surface of the strap. The externally exposed parts of both the base patch and the strap are smooth so as not to snag on surrounding materials. The surface of the strap which contacts the conduit is made of or coated with a high friction material to prevent axial slipping of the encircled conduit. Typical conduits which may be conveniently held in place with this invention include tubes, lumens, catheters, electrical wiring, and optical fibers.

  • Patent number: 5107859
Abstract: A fluid collection bag is disclosed which has a corrugated foam opening support. The foam support is placed continuously around the opening to automatically keep the fluid collection bag in the correct open position. The corrugations on the foam support allow for continuous fluid accumulation and/or drainage. A solid foam bar is also utilized as an opening support. The foam bar is specifically shaped to continuously force the fluid collection bag into the proper open position. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is placed on the bottom of the bag to keep the fluid collection bag in the proper positon on the patient, and to maintain a fluid imprevious seal between the surgical site and the patient and/or medical staff.
