  • Patent number: 8727187
Abstract: A fluid container including a container having an opening and a spout assembly connected to the opening. The spout assembly is connectable to the opening. The spout assembly includes a cap, first and second tubular portions, and at least one corrugated portion. The cap is securable so as to substantially cover the opening. The first tubular portion is connected to the cap. The at least one corrugated portion is fluidically coupled between the first tubular portion and the second tubular portion. The second tubular portion being insertable into the first tubular portion.

  • Patent number: 5943757
Abstract: An insertion die for the installation of an internally-threaded flange into a drum head by means of a single stroke cycle of a cooperating press includes components arranged for piercing a hole in the drum head and crimping a raised embossment which is formed in the drum head over and around the flange for securely anchoring the flange into the drum head embossment. The insertion die is configured with two workstations, one for a two inch inside diameter flange and the other for a 3/4 inch inside diameter vent closure. The insertion die includes a moveable die center at each workstation which is initially positioned in a blocking configuration to prevent crimping jaws from closing. The die center is moveable to a lower position below the crimping jaws which allows the jaws to act on the drum head embossment for crimping the embossment onto the flange.

  • Patent number: 5797525
Abstract: An all-plastic closure for snap-fit attachment to a raised neck finish of a plastic container for closing the container includes a unitary dispensing spout, a threaded closing cap, and a unitary outer ring which is attached to the closing cap by a plurality of frangible elements. The neck finish of the container has a substantially cylindrical inner surface defining a container opening wherein the upper outer edge of the neck finish is configured with an outwardly extending lip portion and a recessed area therebeneath which is used for interlocking and snap-fit engagement with the all-plastic closure. The dispensing spout is moveable back and forth between a nested position and an extended position and includes an outer flange with annular inner and outer walls which are joined by an upper wall and which together define an inverted annular channel. The unitary outer ring is assembled onto and around the outer flange with a snap-fit arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4785963
Abstract: A tamper-evident buttress plug for sealing closed a plastic 55-gallon drum includes a plug body which is externally threaded and compatible with the internally threaded container outlet, a ratchet ring which includes a circumferentially distributed series of ratchet teeth on its inner surface and a series of four frangible elements which initially integrally join the ratchet ring to the plug body. The container outlet has neck which is configured with two spaced series of ratchet teeth which are of a size and configuration so as to be mutually engageable with the ratchet teeth on the closure ring. As the closure is threadedly advanced into the outlet, threaded engagement is first achieved and then ratchet engagement. When it is time for the closure to be removed from the container, the frangible elements must be severed so as to separate the ring and the plug body.
