  • Patent number: 11179130
Abstract: This patent includes a method and apparatus for assigning a three-dimensional coordinate system to a segmented structure of a three-dimensional imaging examination of a tangible volume containing discrete structures. The boundary of a segmented structure, which corresponds to a discrete structure is determined through a segmentation algorithm. The assigned three-dimensional coordinate system has an origin and a set of coordinate axes. This allows each voxel within the segmented structure of the three-dimensional imaging examination to have a precise coordinate. This provides improved longitudinal analysis and more precise localization within the segmented structure.

  • Patent number: 11135419
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer system product for improving cardiac output from the heart is presented. A balloon is placed within a chamber of a heart wherein the balloon encloses a mechanical expansion device and air. During a first time epoch in which the heart chamber is volumetrically contracting (during emptying), a mechanical expansion device causes the balloon to increase in size, which improves ejection fraction. During a second time epoch in which the heart chamber is volumetrically expanding (during filling), the mechanical expansion device causes the balloon to decrease in size, which improves filling.

  • Patent number: 11113453
Abstract: A method and apparatus comprising generating a dynamic content blocker. An image, which may be comprised of words, symbols and pictures, is segmented into items. Each item is analyzed by an artificial intelligence algorithm. Items can be determined by the AI algorithm to be of non-interest. The dynamic content blocker consists of a blocking image, which is dynamically placed over the items of non-interest, as determined by the AI. If the AI determines that the items are of interest, then these items will remain visible to the user. This will therefore generate a more eye-appealing image for the user and improve the presentation of imagery to a user.

  • Patent number: 11093051
Abstract: This patent provides a method and apparatus for improving the spatial resolution of the display, so that it appears less pixelated. This is accomplished by generating a first portion of an image that corresponds to a user's fovea and a second portion of the image that corresponds to areas of non-fovea regions of the retina. For the region of the image that corresponds to the fovea, the display uses high spatial resolution of pixels, so that the display is optimized for the user's central vision which has the highest visual acuity. For regions of the image that do not correspond to the fovea, the display uses a lower spatial resolution of pixels. Furthermore, the first portion of the image with the high spatial resolution can be moved within the image so as to accommodate various look angles and convergence points of the user.

  • Patent number: 11094141
Abstract: A 3D image processing system uses a three-dimensional dataset comprising voxels wherein said three-dimensional dataset is generated by performing imaging of a volume containing items. The image processing system performs segmentation of the three-dimensional dataset to generate segmented items. Each segmented item can be processed using a different image processing algorithm. For example, the skull can be processed using a first image processing algorithm (e.g., bone algorithm) and the brain can be processed using a second algorithm (e.g., soft tissue algorithm). A composite three-dimensional image is generated with the skull optimally displayed with the bone algorithm and the brain optimally displayed with the soft tissue algorithm. The composite images are displayed via 2D slice(s) to improve diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 11058390
Abstract: A method and apparatus of generating a modified segmented structure is disclosed. This adds voxels in proximity to a segmented structure to create a larger volume or area than the segmented structure. Analysis of these layers provides insight to the disease pathology of the segmented structure. Additionally, this layer can serve as a visual transition region between a segmented item on a checklist under inspection whose visual appearance is optimized and the remaining structures on the checklist whose visual appearance is subdued (e.g., darkened) to help the imager (e.g., radiologist) better focus on the image.

  • Patent number: 11051782
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed, which significantly improves image quality. Specifically, the method disclosed utilizes structures within an image with a known or calculated value, such as a phantom or presumed homogeneous structure, such as an air mass outside of the patient. The method then performs segmentation of the imaging dataset and subsequent measurement of the structure with a known value. The difference between the known value and the measured value is used as a correction factor, which is then applied to the remainder of the dataset where values are not known. This can improve image quality by helping to generate extremely similar gray scale maps over multiple examinations and eliminate artifacts.
