  • Publication number: 20020086123
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a container (10) for holding at least one good in a space (12) with a separate compartment (14) for holding a novelty article that is selectively accessed, in which a first portion of the container is defined in an injection mold by molding a parason with thermoplastic resin around a mandrel and while the thermoplastic resin is still hot, transferring the parason to a blow mold; and injecting compressed air into the mold to force thermoplastic resin of the parason to take the shape of the mold cavity for defining a second portion of the container having the separate compartment. A container made by the method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6257947
Abstract: An article selectively changeable from a first device (a toy) to a second device (a tool) in which a first shell and a second shell cooperatively define a cavity in which a tool is pivotally mounted, with the shells being movable from a first position spaced closely together to enclose the tool to a second position spaced-apart and open for moving an operative portion of the tool to an extended position outwardly of the shells, so that the article with the tool in the enclosed position is usable as a first device (for example, a toy) and with the tool in the extended position is usable as a second device (for example, a toothbrush). The tool is disclosed as a toothbrush, comb, flashlight, or writing instrument.

  • Patent number: 6005204
Abstract: A motion actuated switch for operating a signalling apparatus for emitting a light or sound signal from within a novelty article, in which a switch body is defined by a cap attached to plate and the switch body being mountable within the novelty article. The plate has an electrically conductive first contact. At least a portion of the cap has an electrically conductive second contact. The cap and the plate define a cavity within the switch body. An electrically conductive sphere is disposed within the cavity for free movement therein and sized for at least momentarily contacting the first contact and the second contact upon motion of the novelty article. The switch is in electrical communication with a signalling apparatus by a first lead attached to the first contact and a second lead attached to the second contact.

  • Patent number: 5996781
Abstract: A container for holding at least one first article in a space defined by walls of the container while permitting selective access to at least one second article in a separate compartment therein. The container body is defined by a side wall extending between a lower edge and an upper distal edge that defines an open end of the body for receiving at least one first article therethrough for being held in a space within the body. A dome-shaped interior wall extends across the space from an interior surface of the side wall to define a closed bottom. The side wall and the interior wall define the space for holding the first article. The interior wall also defines a separate compartment for receiving a novelty article through an opening defined in the body. A selectively-attached detachable cover closes the opening to hold the novelty article within the separate compartment.
