  • Patent number: 5166665
Abstract: A self-contained audible alarm assembly settable for actuation when subjected to an axial compressive force. The alarm assembly comprises a cylindrical body and a pair of end caps each comprising a circular base and an annular skirt. A first end cap is mounted on a first end of the body. A sound producing horn is captively mounted within the body adjacent the first end cap, the base of which is perforated to emit sound from the horn. A battery is located within the body. A pair of contacts is mounted within the body adjacent the second end thereof. Each contact has a portion extending slightly beyond the body second end. The battery and the horn are connected in series between these contacts. An electrically conductive disc is affixed to the inside surface of the base of the second one of the end caps. The disc touches the contacts completing the circuit and energizing the horn when the second end cap is fully seated on the second body end.

  • Patent number: 4361436
Abstract: A composition comprising a mixture of a N-heterocyclic monoamide such as e.g. N-methyl pyrrolidone or a polymer thereof, and a 2-halo-ethylphosphonic acid useful for the treatment of plants including trees, shrubs, field crops, grasses and ornamentals to achieve enhanced plant growth regulatory effects. Of particular interest are the treatments of apple trees to promote fruit redening; treatment of cherry, hazel and walnut trees to advance fruit loosening; treatment of cucumbers to induce stunting and to promote female sex expression; treatment of tobacco to hasten maturation and to inhibit tillering and treatment of cotton plants prior to harvesting to provide defoliation synchronized with increased, boll opening in preparation for harvest of quality cotton in high yields.

  • Patent number: 4328026
Abstract: In one aspect the invention relates to the complexed product of the reaction between a haloalkylphosphonic acid and an amide of the structure R.sup.3 --CO--N(R.sup.1) (R.sup.2) where R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are as defined below. In another aspect the invention relates to the phosphoranyl derivatives indicated to have the structure: ##STR1## wherein R is lower alkyl; X is a halogen atom such as fluorine, chlorine, bromine, or iodine; R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each independently hydrogen, phenyl, naphthyl, methyl or ethyl substituted phenyl, alkyl or 1 to 24 carbon atoms optionally substituted with hydroxy or halogen and R.sup.1 can additionally be alkylene of 2 to 4 carbon atoms; or R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, together with nitrogen, can form a N-heterocyclic ring having from 3 to 5 carbon atoms, which ring may be saturated or unsaturated; and the polymer of the above compound when R.sup.1 is vinyl and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 form said N-heterocyclic ring; or a mixture containing said phosphoranyl derivative.

  • Patent number: 4204615
Abstract: A fitment is provided to render a two-piece non-spurting twist open dispensing closure child-resistant. The fitment, which is adapted to be disposed between the tip and shell portions of the closure, is of annular configuration and is provided with an upwardly-biased lug at its outer periphery. The lug is adapted to engage fingergrip depressions located on the sidewall of the closure's tip portion. Engagement between the lug and one of the depressions occurs when the tip portion is rotated into its closed or non-dispensing position. Manual depression of the lug is required to disengage the lug from the fingergrip depression. The disengagement of lug from depression allows the tip portion to be rotated into its open or dispensing position.

  • Patent number: 4138034
Abstract: A dispensing package for individual sheets pre-moistened with a volatile component. The package comprises a container impervious to the volatile component with a stack of the pre-moistened sheets therein in discrete, interleaved condition. One surface of the package has a restrictive dispensing orifice so sized as to just permit the passage therethrough of two of the pre-moistened sheets in tightly gathered form so that, as each sheet is pulled through the orifice, it will pull a sufficient amount of the next sheet of the stack through the orifice to be conveniently grasped by the consumer when desired and to serve as a plug for the orifice until it is extracted therefrom by the consumer. During the packaging process a sufficient portion of the topmost sheet of the stack is caused to extend beyond the opening to enable the consumer to grasp the topmost sheet and extract it without having to open the package container and pre-start the topmost sheet through the dispensing orifice.

  • Patent number: T993001
Abstract: A dual-acting free body automatic dispenser for dispensing laundry additives into automatic washing machines. The dispenser comprises an assemblage of three major elements: a hollow, spherical container provided with an orifice; a resilient valve seated within the orifice and a rigid stempiece extending axially through the valve. The valve is positioned on the stempiece such that when seated a portion of the stempiece protrudes outwardly beyond the exterior of the container. A mass is attached to the interiorly extending end of the stempiece. The consumer operates the dispenser by filling it with laundry additive, manually seating the valve and placing the dispenser in the washing machine's basket. The dispenser is triggered during the first spin cycle. If the dispenser is oriented with the protruding portion of the stempiece in contact with the basket, centrifugal force causes the container to be forced outwardly relative to the stempiece, thereby unseating the valve.
