  • Publication number: 20160085619
Abstract: A bit error in a flit transmitted over a link is determined to affect one or more particular bits of the flit based on a syndrome value associated with a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) value of the flit. The link includes a plurality of lanes. It is determined that the one or more particular bits were sent over one or more particular lanes of the link. The bit error is associated with the one or more particular lanes based on determining that the affected bits were transmitted over the particular lanes.

  • Patent number: 9280507
Abstract: A reset of a synchronization counter is synchronized to an external deterministic signal. Entry into the link transmitting state is further synchronized with the deterministic signal. A target latency is identified for a serial data link. A data sequence is received synchronized with a synchronization counter associated with the data link. Target latency can be maintained using the data sequence.

  • Patent number: 9235520
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention describe a cache coherency protocol that eliminates the need for ordering between message classes and also eliminates home tracker preallocation. Embodiments of the invention describe a less complex conflict detection and resolution mechanism (at the home agent) without any performance degradation in form of bandwidth or latency compared to prior art solutions. Embodiments of the invention describe a home agent that may receive request messages, e.g., data ownership request messages and data request messages, which include issuance data indicating an order of the respective message issued. Said home agent may determine whether an early or late conflict exists based, at least in part, on a received conflict response message and the issuance data of a most recent completed transaction.

  • Patent number: 9229897
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for embedding a control channel in a high speed serial interconnect having multiple data lanes. Operational aspects of the interconnect are controlled via use of control channel data that is sent over one or more of the data lanes on a periodic basis. A link state cycle is employed that includes a link control period during which control information is transferred over the interconnect and a link control interval between link control periods during which other links states are implemented, such as for transferring data or operating the link in a low power state. The link state cycles at transmitter and receiver ports are synchronized to account for link transmit latencies, and the timing of link state cycles corresponding to a bidirectional exchange of link control information may be configured to support an overlapping implementation or to facilitate a request/response link control protocol.

  • Patent number: 9208121
Abstract: A periodic control window is embedded in a link layer data stream to be sent over a serial data link, where the control window is configured to provide physical layer information including information for use in initiating state transitions on the data link. The link layer data can be sent during a link transmitting state of the data link and the control window can interrupt the sending of flits. In one aspect, the information includes link width transition data indicating an attempt to change the number of active lanes on the link.

  • Patent number: 9208110
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for implementing raw memory transactions. An SoC is configured with a plurality of nodes coupled together forming a ring interconnect. Processing cores and memory cache components are operatively coupled to and co-located at respective nodes. The memory cache components include a plurality of last level caches (LLC's) operating as a distributed LLC and a plurality of home agents and caching agents employed for supporting coherent memory transactions. Route-back tables are used to encode memory transactions requests with embedded routing data that is implemented by agents that facilitate data transfers between link interface nodes and memory controllers. Accordingly, memory request data corresponding to raw memory transactions may be routed back to requesting entities using headerless packets.

  • Patent number: 9183171
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to fast deskew when exiting a low-power partial-width high speed link state are described. In one embodiment, an exit flit on active lanes and/or a wake signal/sequence on idle lanes may be transmitted at a first point in time to cause one or more idle lanes of a link to enter an active state. At a second point in time (following or otherwise subsequent to the first point in time), training sequences are transmitted over the one or more idle lanes of the link. And, the one or more idle lanes are deskewed in response to the training sequences and prior to a third point in time (following or otherwise subsequent to the second point in time). Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20150269104
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for implementing low latency interconnect switches between CPU's and associated protocols. CPU's are configured to be installed on a main board including multiple CPU sockets linked in communication via CPU socket-to-socket interconnect links forming a CPU socket-to-socket ring interconnect. The CPU's are also configured to transfer data between one another by sending data via the CPU socket-to-socket interconnects. Data may be transferred using a packetized protocol, such as QPI, and the CPU's may also be configured to support coherent memory transactions across CPU's.

  • Publication number: 20150269105
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relating to low-overhead utilization-aware link-width modulation to reduce power consumption in interconnects are described. In one embodiment, link width modulation logic adjusts the width of an interconnect link. More particularly, the link width modulation logic causes the interconnect link to transition from a first width to a second width based on comparison of a utilization value associated with the interconnect link against at least one of a plurality of utilization threshold values. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20150186275
Abstract: A processor is described that includes one or more processing cores. The processing core includes a memory controller to interface with a system memory having a near memory and a far memory. The processing core includes a plurality of caching levels above the memory controller. The processor includes logic circuitry to track state information of a cache line that is cached in one of the caching levels. The state information including a selected one of an inclusive state and a non inclusive state. The inclusive state indicates that a copy or version of the cache line exists in near memory. The non inclusive states indicates that a copy or version of the cache line does not exist in the near memory. The logic circuitry is to cause the memory controller to handle a write request that requests a direct write into the near memory without a read of the near memory beforehand if a system memory write request generated within the processor targets the cache line when the cache line is in the inclusive state.
