  • Publication number: 20240102306
Abstract: A method of designing a modular cooling tower cell which may utilize mechanicals from a preexisting cell and assembling the modular cell within a cooling field in-situ using a series of custom modules. After collecting a data set from a preexisting cooling tower cell and removing the preexisting tower, a build specification is generated, including calculating a cut list for vertical and horizontal members which will form the basis of the plurality of modules forming the cell. The members are fabricated and include a plurality of connection points which allow for sizing adjustments without affecting the connection points. The modules are then constructed using the data set from the preexisting tower to form a plurality of modules comprising a cell matrix based on the data set from the preexisting cooling tower cell.

  • Publication number: 20170186347
Abstract: A vehicle mounted flag warning system for mine excavation sites, comprising: a) a base plate comprising a top side and a bottom side and including a plurality of mounting holes; b) an electric hydraulic piston device affixed to a top side of the base plate and engaged with a rotatable cam; d) a spring mounted flag rotatable affixed to the flag cam mount; and e) a switch in electrical communication with the electric hydraulic piston, wherein the flag is rotatably position vertically and rotatably position horizontally when the switch is toggled.

  • Publication number: 20090081623
Abstract: Methods, systems and interfaces are used in the teaching, practicing, and testing of spelling skills with a computer system. An instructor is provided words, groups of words, and filters for creating word lists to administer to one or more students in a preview. Previews are administered to each of the students for generating individualized word lists that are used to administer practice exercises and practice tests. The individualized word lists can also be used to administer final tests to the students. Some interfaces are used for tracking words passed off by the students as well as words the students fail during the final testing. Graphical user interfaces are provided for instructors and students. Some of the instructor interfaces allow instructors to manage students and student groups and to administer previews, word lists, practice exercises and practice tests, final tests, and reporting.

  • Publication number: 20060280754
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of preventing or inhibiting viral infection of a cell and/or fusion between the envelope of a virus and the membranes of a cell targeted by the virus (thereby preventing delivery of the viral genome into the cell cytoplasm, a step required for. viral infection). The present invention particularly relates to the families of RNA viruses, including the arenaviruses, coronaviruses, filoviruses, orthomyxoviruses, paramyxoviruses, and retroviruses, having Class I membrane fusion proteins as the fusion proteins that mediate this fusion process. The present invention provides for a method of identifying a conserved motif or domain called the fusion initiation region (FIR) in these viruses. The present invention further provides for methods of preventing infection by such viruses, by interfering with their FIR. The present invention further provides for methods of treatment and prophylaxis of diseases induced by such viruses.

  • Publication number: 20060069027
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods that employ peptides or peptide derivatives to inhibit hepatitis C virus infection. The present invention is based in part on the discovery that E2 envelope glycoprotein of hepatitis C virus has previously undescribed domains that are important for interactions with cellular or viral proteins that are necessary for early steps in HCV infection. The present invention provides peptides and methods of treatment and prophylaxis of diseases induced by hepatitis C virus and related viruses.

  • Publication number: 20050271677
Abstract: The present invention relates to peptides and methods of inhibiting fusion between the virion envelope of Flaviviruses and membranes of the target cell, the process that delivers the viral genome into the cell cytoplasm. The invention provides for methods which employ peptides or peptide derivatives to inhibit Flavivirus:cell fusion. The present invention is based in part on the discovery that E1 envelope glycoprotein of hepaciviruses and E2 envelope glycoprotein of pestivirus have previously undescribed structures, truncated class II fusion proteins. The present invention provides peptides and methods of treatment and prophylaxis of diseases induced by Flaviviruses.

  • Patent number: PP18955
Abstract: The present invention relates to a seedless grape variety, which is a clone of ‘Chardonnay I10V1’ grape. A seedless variety has considerable advantages in wine-making in that the wine being produced can be left on the skins for longer than in the case of conventional cultivars, without developing the bitter taste associated with seeds.
