  • Patent number: 4140273
Abstract: A magnetic card drive assembly for use with an electronic typewriter is provided for driving a magnetic card supported on a platform with a top surface and a card guide surface thereon. The magnetic card drive assembly includes a drive wheel supported for rotation on a frame. The frame has an alignment surface formed thereon for mating with cooperating alignment faces of a pair of lugs extending from the card platform. The engagement of the alignment surface of the drive wheel frame against the alignment faces of the lugs automatically aligns the frame and the drive wheel relative to the card guide surface. The drive wheel is further alignable relative to the plane of the top surface of the card platform by adjustment of one of three retaining screws connecting the drive wheel frame to the card platform. This screw cooperates with a compression spring acting between the frame and the card platform to position the periphery of the drive wheel tangent to the plane of the top surface of the card platform.

  • Patent number: 4139877
Abstract: A Floppy Disk magnetic information storage and retrieval unit with a stepping motor lead screw driving a half-nut of the read/write head carriage. The read/write head carriages used are interchangeable modules and the stepper motor, carriage drive lead screw and a mounting plate are also in the form of interchangeable modules for Floppy Disk units equipped with registration banking button positioning for minimized tolerance variation between interchangeable modular assemblies for simplified reliable field maintainance and lower cost.

  • Patent number: 4137449
Abstract: A tracking mount assembly is provided for use with an electronic typewriter magnetic card support platform having a top surface and a card guide surface thereon. The tracking mount assembly includes a bridge frame with a lead screw and a guide shaft mounted in the frame. A pair of lugs extend from the frame and are formed with alignment surfaces thereon. The alignment surfaces of the lugs engage the card guide surface of the card support platform to align thelead screw and guide shaft relative to the card guide surface. The lead screw and guide shaft are further aligned relative to the plane of the top surface of the card support platform by the connection between the bridge frame and the card support platform.

  • Patent number: 4111541
Abstract: An electrostatic reproduction machine with photosensitive member on which latent electrostatic images of an original being reproduced are made following charging of a photosensitive member, the images being developed or transferred to a sheet of copy paper which is thereafter fused to form a permanent copy. A transparent platen supports the original with one or more lamps being provided to illuminate the original resting on the platen. The light image produced is transmitted by an optical system to the photosensitive member to discharge the same selectively in accordance with the original. A movable optical system is provided to permit the light image to be projected onto and in synchronism with the moving photosensitive member, in accommodation of the relatively low power of the flash lamps.

  • Patent number: 4110803
Abstract: A magnetic card transport system for use with an electronic typewriter includes a magnetic head assembly mountable on a bridge frame having a lead screw and a guide shaft mounted thereon. The magnetic head assembly includes a magnetic head attached to a head support. The head support is connected by leaf springs to a thread receiving structure having threads and adjacent guideways formed along an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the magnetic head. A clamp member is attached to the head support for engaging the threads against the lead screw and the guideways against the guide shaft whereby the magnetic head is automatically aligned relative to the lead screw and the guide shaft. The magnetic head is adjustable relative to the head support about the roll, pitch and skew or azimuth axes. The leaf spring attachment between the head support and the thread receiving structure permits resistive movement of the magnetic head relative to the lead screw and guideway.

  • Patent number: 3980404
Abstract: A xerographic apparatus having an improved liquid developer applicator is disclosed. The liquid developer applicator comprises a hollow, cylindrical, deformable fluid dispensing sleeve member having an outer elastomeric layer characterized by an outer surface having a relief pattern for carrying fluid developer provided from a reservoir to a photoconductor surface. The hollow, cylindrical, deformable fluid dispensing sleeve is also characterized by multiple inner layers which are provided to impart desirable properties and characteristics to the sleeve member. The fluid developer applicator is particularly useful in developing latent electrostatic images on photoconductor surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3944353
Abstract: Photoelectrophoretic imaging system having an additional electrode for subjecting a film of photoelectrophoretic imaging suspension to an electric field at a potential above the corona threshold of the film prior to image exposure. The effect of the electric field and resulting current causes electrophoretic deposition of the imaging particles in the imaging suspension in a uniform layer to thereby eliminate or reduce background degradation in the final image formed.

  • Patent number: 3942789
Abstract: A magnetic card transport subsystem for an electronic typewriter comprises a reversible drive roll and a coacting pinch roll which form a nip through which a magnetic card is passed. The drive roll and pinch roll coact to move the card in opposite directions. The pinch roll is so mounted that it can rock and be self-leveling to permit the full width of the pinch roll to engage the card and uniformly distribute pressure thereto. A mechanism for adjusting the pinch roll for alignment purposes is also provided.
