  • Patent number: 9495870
Abstract: Vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications are accomplished via a scalable ad hoc geographic routing protocol. As vehicles move along roadways, they can query other vehicles and entities for information. Responses to queries can be used to determine information such as traffic conditions, a retail store sale, that a restaurant has tables available, and/or that parking spaces are available, for example. Businesses, vehicles, and other entities along roadways can geocast pertinent information to vehicles passing by. Vehicles can cache information as it is received.

  • Publication number: 20160285935
Abstract: In some cases, V2X systems may send warning messages. The warning messages may be sent over short distances. The warning messages may be useful over wider distances. Some systems may us MBMS from a V2X proximity broadcast. Electronic communications devices, such as UEs may be unaware of the MBMS. A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be an RSU. The RSU receive a V2X message from a UE. The RSU may broadcast information associated with the V2X message. The RSU may send the information associated with the V2X message to a network entity for a point-to-multipoint broadcast. The method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication may also use V2X messages that include bootstrapping information to tune to an MBMS broadcast.

  • Publication number: 20160127439
Abstract: Interfacing of multimedia public warning system alerts is discussed in which a user equipment (UE) receives a system information broadcast message with a multimedia alert contained therein. The multimedia alert triggers the UE to automatically initiate a multimedia broadcast application to process the alert. The multimedia alert includes broadcast system information that enables the multimedia broadcast application to automatically tune the UE to the streaming multimedia content associated with the alert. The UE may then process the streaming multimedia content on the UE.

  • Publication number: 20160100346
Abstract: A more efficient network is facilitated by data routing. A node device within a network can broadcast a first set of data to a network of other node devices. Based on node device characteristics, some nodes will hear the broadcast first and can be labeled as a relay node. The relay nodes can then transmit other data based on the determination of other relay nodes.

  • Publication number: 20160065480
Abstract: A wireless communication device controls whether an application can access a service provided by a server. The wireless communication device maintains a policy that specifies a particular action (e.g., blocking traffic) to be taken at the wireless communication device if a particular network condition occurs (e.g., congestion at a server). The wireless communication device also monitors network conditions (e.g., in real-time) so that it can take appropriate action whenever a trigger condition occurs according to the policy. In some scenarios, the policy supports mission-critical applications.

  • Patent number: 8744419
Abstract: Media is distributed via a scalable ad hoc geographic routing/broadcast protocol. Media can be transmitted from a mobile device to a cluster of mobile devices that are geographically located in a particular region. Devices that are located between the source and the intended target can act as routers with the ability to forward data packets toward the intended destination. In essence, a geocast network cloud is established, allowing any device within the cloud to communicate with any other device in the cloud. Devices in the network can constantly change position and the transmission path through the network can be constantly changing. The geocast protocol adapts to the changing conditions.
