Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer usable program to reposition a display window that has been adjusted along a dimension. The method includes displaying a display window on a desktop, the display window having a first boundary, a second boundary opposite the first boundary, a third boundary about perpendicular to the first boundary, and a fourth boundary opposite the third boundary. The method further includes receiving a resize command and, responsive to receiving the resize command, moving the first boundary with respect to a first window limit and moving the second boundary with respect to a second window limit. The method includes receiving a reposition command and, responsive to receiving the reposition command, moving the third and fourth boundaries of the resized display window while maintaining the fixed distance between the third and fourth boundaries and maintaining the position of the first and second boundaries with respect to the first and second window limits.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for securely associating ownership information with an electronic device with a plurality of modules configured to functionally execute the necessary steps of securely associating ownership information with an electronic device. These modules in the described embodiments include a presentation component coupled to an electronic device, the presentation component configured to present ownership information; a latch connected to the presentation component and the electronic device, the latch configured to restrict access to the ownership information; and a controller coupled to the latch, the controller configured to free the latch to permit access to the ownership information. Beneficially, such an apparatus, system, and method would allow easy identification of the proper possessor of an electronic device and reduce the incidence of theft of the electronic device.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for securely associating identification information with an electronic device. The apparatus, system and method facilitate identifying an authorized user of an electronic device. An electronic display integrated the exterior of an electronic device (or a portion of the display) may be dedicated to displaying the identification information. The display may be viewable to onlookers and may be protected with a tamper evident element. The identification information may include electronic text, scanned images or a combination of such data. An authentication module may require a secure login with an authorized password and the appropriate rights to create or modify the identification information.

Abstract: A tender separator for placement in a section of a till, such that tenders can be separated within the section by placing a first form of tender below the separator and a second form of tender above the separator. Preferably, the tender separator is movable in a vertical direction to accommodate varying amounts of the first form of tender. Optionally, the tender separator may be adapted for placement in one or more tracks of a back of the section, such that the tender separator is movable, in a vertical direction, in the one or more tracks. As another option, more than one separator may be placed in one section of the till, such that multiple forms of tender can be separated within the section by placing the tender separators between the multiple forms of tender. The tender separators may be tabbed and/or flexible (e.g., for easier access to tenders placed therebeneath).

Abstract: Restricted-purchase stored-value food cards which donors can purchase and donate, with assurance that purchases with those cards will be automatically restricted to particular food items (such as food items that would also qualify for food stamp benefits under a government program). Use of the food card to purchase items such as cigarettes and alcohol, for example, may be prohibited. By automatically restricting the purchases to eligible items, the donor's charitable intent can be fulfilled. The cards may be used by a shopper, for example, to supplement government food stamp benefits.

Abstract: Stored-value gift cards which gift-givers can purchase and give to recipients, where each card represents a set of items comprising a restaurant “meal profile”. The gift-giver can therefore provide a gift of an intended meal, rather than a gift of a fixed dollar value. Gift-givers may be required to prepay for such gift cards; alternatively, several deferred payment approaches may be supported. Techniques for resolving differences between the intended meal profile's value and the recipient's actual meal cost are addressed.

Abstract: A method and system for purchasing products through a government assistance program such as WIC is presented. After all WIC and non-WIC qualified items are scanned at a store's check-out station, a WIC eligible participant tenders a WIC smart card. The WIC smart card identifies the eligible user, and also selectively tenders a governmental payment credit for only the WIC qualified items.

Abstract: System and method for correcting the output provided by printer devices. Output data is received at a printer device, the output data describing intended output for the printer device, where the printer device prints printed output based on the output data. The method shifts the position of at least one non-matching portion of future printed output that does not match the intended output due to a technical failure of the printer device. The shifting causes the quality of non-matching portions in future printed output of the printer device to be improved.

Abstract: A system for tracking a number of items borrowed or rented by customers includes a chute reading identification data from each item as the item is returned through the chute by the customer. Data records associated with the returned items are updated to indicate the items are available, even before the items can be restocked. The time at which an item is returned may be compared with a time at which it is due, with an additional fee being added to an account of a customer borrowing or renting an item that is returned late.

Abstract: A method and system for scheduling and transmitting messages is disclosed. The method and system comprise storing a plurality of audio files in an audio database, generating a schedule of queued messages via the plurality of audio files, transmitting the queued messages based on the schedule, reconfiguring the schedule based on a user interaction delivering the queued messages in accordance with the reconfigured schedule. Through the use of the method and system in accordance with the present invention, a scheduled plurality of messages can be transmitted in a clear and professional manner. Additionally, “ad hoc” messages can be incorporated into the schedule without significantly disrupting the other messages.

Abstract: System and method for supporting coordination and collaboration of multiple users, such as shoppers, in an activity. Individual lists are organized, each list associated with a different participating user and including multiple entries promoting efficiency in the activity, each entry describing an item to be located and/or obtained by the user. Each list is accessible on an electronic device by each user, where a user can obtain or locate the items described on that user's list during the activity. In another aspect, users can communicate messages and list changes and locate other users during the activity.
