  • Patent number: 9094638
Abstract: A method for accessing triple play services provided through a server over a network to a portable device, the method comprising: receiving a signal from a user defining respective preference levels for the triple play services; determining a location for the portable device; determining which of the triple play services are available at the location; composing a list of available services at the location, the available services in the list being ordered in accordance with the respective preference levels; and, displaying the list on a display screen of the portable device, whereby the user may access the available services by selecting from the list.

  • Patent number: 9030968
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for controlling an aspect of a communication session. The method processes the session through a subscriber terminal that also controls a separate a video signal. The method comprises: analyzing call data for the session to determine whether a calling party can initiate the session with a called party; if the calling party is allowed to initiate the session, sending information about the session to the terminal; generating a GUI session from the information for a video monitor connected to the terminal; allowing further processing of the session through the terminal through the GUI session; if a command is received to further process the session, providing a message to the network to process the command; and if a command is received to change an aspect of the video signal, providing an appropriate message to the terminal to process the command.

  • Publication number: 20070291746
Abstract: The invention provides a system, method and terminal for managing a connection request for a call originating from a voice communication network through a subscriber terminal for a video signal originating from an independent source is provided. The method comprises: receiving a message at the subscriber terminal relating to the call; generating a GUI session for a video monitor connected to the subscriber terminal to display particulars relating to the call; providing an option to further process the call through the subscriber terminal through the GUI session; if a command is received to further process the call, providing an appropriate message to the voice communication network to process the command; and if a command is received to change an aspect of the video signal, providing an appropriate message to the subscriber terminal to process the command.

  • Publication number: 20040046780
Abstract: Methods and devices for navigating locations containing multimedia content. A control device for multimedia access apparatus is equipped with user activatable controls. A dedicated navigation control button, when activated by an end user of the apparatus presents a navigation menu of possible locations which may be accessed by the end user. These locations are presented to the end user regardless of the mode (e.g. TV, Video on Demand, Pay Per View, or the Internet) in which the multimedia access apparatus operating. The end user can then choose a destination from the navigation menu and the apparatus accesses the location selected by the end user, again, regardless of the mode required for the selected location. A dedicated execution control button, when activated, presents an execution menu of possible actions or functions which may be activated by the end user for the particular location the end user is currently accessing.

  • Patent number: 5479186
Abstract: A video monitor color control system including means for calibrating the intensity response of CRT phosphor sets to each of a plurality of electron gun control levels. Provided is a processor (24) that generates a sequence of discrete DAC signals, each DAC signal identifying an electron gun and a DAC value for driving the electron gun at a selected control level. Also provided is a monitor driver (22) connected to the processor (24) and to the monitor (20) and controllable in response to a DAC signal for driving the electron gun identified by the DAC signal at the control level identified by the DAC signal. The driven electron gun excites the associated phosphor set. A sensor (28) is provided for detecting the luminous intensity level of the phosphor excited by the electron gun, and for converting the detected intensity into a representative signal.

  • Patent number: 4875032
Abstract: The colorimetric parameters of a color sample (42) that is illuminated by a reference light are processed for reproduction by a video monitor (20) or the like. A color filter assembly (40) and associated sensor (28) are used to generate signals indicative of the colorimetric parameters of the illuminated color sample (42). A computer (24) transforms the signals into a form suitable for driving a video monitor (20) to reproduce the color sample (42) on the monitor screen.
