Patent number: 9593511Abstract: A lock with a locking mechanism comprises a rotary catch, a pawl for engaging the rotary catch, a blocking lever capable of blocking the pawl if the latter is located in its catching position, and a releasing lever for opening or releasing the locking mechanism. When the releasing lever is actuated, the pawl and, if applicable, the blocking lever is moved out of its blocking position provided that the releasing lever is moved in a usual manner and the releasing lever is not exposed to increased or excessive accelerations. In case of an increased or excessive acceleration of the releasing lever such as caused by a crash or impact, an arresting device prevents the releasing lever from disengaging the pawl and optionally the blocking lever of the pawl. The arresting device is further releasable with the return of the releasing lever to the initial rest position.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2013Date of Patent: March 14, 2017Assignee: Kiekert AGInventor: Robert J. Patent number: 9534425Abstract: A lock for a motor vehicle includes a locking mechanism with a rotatably mounted rotary catch for receiving a locking bolt, and a pawl with which the rotary catch can be engaged for retaining the locking bolt. The lock further includes a blocking lever that blocks the pawl when the pawl is located in a catching position, and a releasing lever for disengaging the locking mechanism. A first spring interconnects the blocking lever and the releasing lever, wherein the blocking lever and the releasing lever move either together or independently relative to the first spring based on a magnitude of acceleration of the releasing lever.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2013Date of Patent: January 3, 2017Assignee: Kiekert AGInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 9316028Abstract: A vehicle door latch includes a lock plate, a catch which is rotatable about a first rotary axis, and a pawl which is rotatable about a second rotary axis, the first rotary axis and the second rotary axis being non-parallel. A connector connects both the catch and the pawl to the lock plate. One end of the connector connects the catch to the lock plate, and an opposite end of the connector connects the pawl to the lock plate. The connector is a dual rivet in that the connector has a first end face and a second end face, wherein the end faces are riveted outside of the lock plate. The lock plate includes a slot through which one end of the connector extends, and the slot extends in a direction of a projection of one of the rotary axes.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2013Date of Patent: April 19, 2016Assignee: Kiekert AGInventors: Robert J. Publication number: 20150308156Abstract: The invention relates to a locking mechanism for a motor vehicle comprising a closing aid. The locking mechanism comprises an electrically driven closing aid which can move a rotary catch of the locking mechanism from a preliminary catching position to a main catching position when the closing aid is in an engaging position. It is possible to move the closing aid from its engaging position to a disengaging position and vice versa. The closing aid cannot move the rotary catch of the locking mechanism from its preliminary catching position to its main catching position when the closing aid is in its disengaging position. Since it is possible to move the closing aid to a disengaging position, it is possible to open the locking mechanism of the locking mechanism independent from the motor driven closing aid. A malfunction is thereby avoided.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 28, 2014Publication date: October 29, 2015Inventors: Robert J. Hunt, Xiang fei Liu

Patent number: 4245640Abstract: A self-contained chest motion electricity generating device which converts normal respiratory breathing motion into electrical energy. The device employs a magnetic circuit which includes a permanent magnet and an induction coil wrapped around a ferromagnetic core. The magnetic circuit is mounted on a chest harness which includes shoulder straps and a chest strap. The chest strap includes an elastic materal which expands and contracts with normal respiratory motion. The permanent magnet and the induction coil of the magnetic circuit is separated by the elastic material such that in the totally exhaled state, a minimal gap exists between the permanent magnet and the ferromagnetic core. Normal breathing action expands and contracts the elastic material, thus varying the separation distance between the induction coil and the permanent magnet in such a fashion as to vary the magnetic flux linkage with the induction coil, thereby inducing a current through the coil.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1977Date of Patent: January 20, 1981Inventor: Robert J. Patent number: 4228639Abstract: In order to produce core yarn wrapped with at least two separate wrapper yarns of the same or opposite hands, core material is passed in succession through a pair of rotary hollow spindles, each carrying a package of wrapper yarn whereby the core material is wrapped and which are relatively displaced so that the path of the material between a point just before the entrance of the first spindle and a point just after the exit of the second spindle deviates from a straight line so as to cause the core material or the resultant yarn to engage a rotary end of at least one of the spindles so as to apply false twist. The spindles may be supported so that their axes are displaced or displaceable in relation to one another for which purpose each spindle may be carried by a mounting capable of angular displacement about a support shaft and capable of being secured in any one of a range of angular positions.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 1979Date of Patent: October 21, 1980Assignee: James Mackie & Sons LimitedInventors: Robert J. Hunt, Norman A. Hill

Patent number: 4196572Abstract: A textile winding head of the driven flyer type having a rotary bobbin carrier is provided with an adjustable brake of the electromagnetic induction type, preferably of the regenerative type, and a controller for increasing the braking torque progressively as the diameter of the package increases during winding so as to maintain close control over the tension of the material being wound. A tachogenerator may be connected to turn with the bobbin carrier to provide a signal varying with the angular velocity of a package being wound to provide an input signal to the controller for adjusting the braking torque. Additional tachogenerators may be connected to turn respectively with the delivery rollers and the flyer to provide correction signals, and the controller is preferably a computer for receiving the signals from the three tachogenerators and for providing an output signal for adjusting the braking torque.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1978Date of Patent: April 8, 1980Assignee: James Mackie & Sons LimitedInventor: Robert J.
