Abstract: A massively multiplayer educational online game presents a computer generated gameplay world where acquiring and demonstrating mastery of educational skills is a requirement for survival and advancement of a learner's game character. The game provides a method for effectively teaching a set of target educational skills by motivating the learner to improved understanding of the skills by having to demonstrate the skills as part of the game. The skills become immediately meaningful and relevant to the learner within the game itself, as feedback on skill understanding is provided directly, indirectly, or both directly and indirectly through game performance, motivating the learner to improve understanding of the skills.

Abstract: A barrel type air outlet is provided for an opening in an instrument panel or other panel or compartment of a vehicle. The air outlet contains two sets of stationary vanes for directing a stream of air. The first set of stationary vanes is oriented parallel to the longitudinal and transverse axes of the barrel and to one another to direct the stream of air in a jet flow pattern. The second set of stationary vanes is oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis and nonparallel to the transverse axis and nonparallel to one another to direct the stream of air in a diffuse pattern to avoid direct impingement of the stream of air on the driver or other occupants of the vehicle.

Abstract: An air conditioning compressor comprises a compressor housing including front and rear housing heads and a pair of cylinder blocks disposed in the housing each defining axially disposed cylinders. The compressor also includes a double-acting piston in each cylinder opening, a swashplate and drive shaft assembly having a swashplate driveably engageable with each piston and a driveshaft mounted in each cylinder block coaxially therewith. The compressor further includes a valve assembly located between each housing head and each respective cylinder block. Each valve assembly includes an intake valve means disposed adjacent to the respective cylinder block, the intake valve means includes valve reeds that control flow from the low pressure passages to the cylinders, a valve plate disposed adjacent to the intake valve means, a discharge valve means disposed adjacent the valve plate, and a noise reducing gasket means disposed between the discharge valve means and the housing head.

Abstract: A pulsation damper for a swashplate air conditioning compressor comprising a tube adapted to be inserted in the discharge port of the compressor to provide internal damping whereby the pressure pulsations are forced to travel in a reentrant flow path as the pulsations from one side of the compressor cancel or neutralize the pulsations from the other side.
