  • Patent number: 4313350
Abstract: An anti-scald apparatus for a tub and shower single control faucet which incorporates a novel cam and cam follower arrangement on the hot and cold water valve means which permits substantially more than 180 degrees of rotation of the control handle. Adjustable temperature stops provide both a comfort stop for normal use and a safety stop which can be reached only by activation of a release button carried by the faucet handle by means of which the comfort stop may be overridden by continuing the rotation of the handle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 21, 1980
Date of Patent: February 2, 1982
    Assignee: KEL-WIN Manufacturing Co., Inc.
Inventors: Robert J. Keller, III, Brian G. Fox, Benjamin A. Korec
  • Patent number: 4301830
Abstract: A frictional control for a single lever faucet construction wherein a compensating cam follower member is made from a material having a higher coefficient of friction than that used for two cam followers which actuate valve members effecting mixing of hot and cold water. All of the cam followers are under the control of a single ball cam member. The cam followers which actuate the valve members have convex surfaces to establish substantially point contact with the ball cam member while the compensating cam follower has a concave surface to engage a substantially larger, and preferably spherical, area of the ball cam member.

  • Patent number: 3967811
Abstract: An all plastic valve construction wherein a removable cartridge contains all wearable seal surfaces. A hollow valve body member is threadedly received in an underbody member and provided with a plurality of separate and distinct sealing locations. The underbody member includes an annular support seat for supporting a plastic stem member in a position only slightly below its assembled position to facilitate the assembly of the stem with a handle for turning same. Two different embodiments are included for stop means which limit the amount of rotation of the stem member relative to the hollow valve body member.

  • Patent number: 3952764
Abstract: A single lever faucet construction utilizing a removable cartridge assembly and improved force balance and friction control on an operating ball cam member. A pair of valve members are mounted in the cartridge in side-by-side relationship with cam follower control means therefor and means to effect vertical adjustment to compensate for both tolerance variations and wear of parts. An underbody member and adapter therefor with three passageway inlets permits the use of a diverter valve and sink spray arrangement in a single installation.
