  • Patent number: 11846001
Abstract: A master inductor circuit is connected to an alternating current power source and a passive inductor circuit are assembled as a separable split inductor assembly to form at least one pair of a master heating inductor and a passive heating inductor where the master and passive inductor circuits are electromagnetically coupled without physical connection. A bearing component can be brought into the presence of the magnetic flux field created by the master and passive heating inductors to simultaneously induction heat one or more bearing features on the bearing component with subsequent quenching down austenitized bearing features on the bearing component.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 3, 2021
Date of Patent: December 19, 2023
    Assignee: Inductoheat, Inc.
Inventors: Valery I. Rudnev, Gary A. Doyon, Glenville Colin Desmier, Robert J. Madeira, Timothy Gerard Boussie

  • Patent number: 8372222
Abstract: A system and method for producing locally austempered ductile iron includes a computer program for closely controlling the heating and cooling of an iron part or workpiece. The process allows for the austempering of a relatively low cost iron workpiece to produce significantly higher quality end products. The locally austempered regions may be formed to a substantial controlled depth.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 2, 2009
Date of Patent: February 12, 2013
    Assignee: Ajax Tocco Magnethermic Corporation
Inventors: George D. Pfaffmann, John R. Keough, Robert J. Madeira, Christopher Allen Bixler

  • Patent number: 5588019
Abstract: An improved induction melting coil apparatus encapsulated with homogeneous inserts for controlling the direction of inductor flux density is disclosed. The inserts are relatively thick and rigid members which provide a low reluctance path within which the magnetic field travels while inhibiting inductive coupling of the magnetic field with surrounding auxiliary components. The inserts can be easily formed or machined into any desired shape for effectively encapsulating virtually any type of coreless induction melting coil.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 1995
Date of Patent: December 24, 1996
    Assignee: Fluxtrol Manufacturing, Inc.
Inventors: Robert S. Ruffini, Robert J. Madeira, Robert T. Ruffini
