  • Patent number: 5722560
Abstract: Legs for a utility tub each have an upper end portion including a mounting surface disposed in a region of an interior corner of the leg. Pockets are disposed adjacent a bottom wall of the utility tub. Fasteners may be used to mount each of the mounting surfaces in one of the pockets. The L-shape of each leg is formed by two leg sections that converge to form a corner of the leg. Each of the leg sections has an outer peripheral edge at the upper end portion that is inwardly tapered at an angle of about 5.degree. from a vertical axis. A slot at the corner of each leg forms an inner peripheral edge on each leg section. Each inner peripheral edge has a taper that extends inwardly at an angle of about 5.degree. from a vertical axis.

  • Patent number: 5517833
Abstract: An apparatus for fluidly connecting a washing machine with a utility tub in a laundry cabinet. A fluid discharge device is attachable to a utility tub. The discharge device includes an elbow having an inlet, an outlet and a passage for conducting fluid between the inlet and outlet. A flow restrictor is located in the passage. The restrictor defines a wide flow path near a top wall of the outlet and a narrow flow path near a bottom wall of the outlet. A deflector surface is located adjacent the outlet and extends transversely relative to the extent of the outlet. The deflector surface directs fluid flow from the outlet in a direction transversely to the passage in a quiet, non-turbulent and thin flat stream of fluid into the utility cabinet.

  • Patent number: 5452739
Abstract: An overflow tray for use with a water containing appliance. The overflow tray comprises a base for receiving and supporting a water containing appliance. A plurality of walls extend transversely from the base to define a watertight container. One of the walls has a pair of end portions cooperating with the base to define a frame. Each end portion connects a respective one of a pair of the walls to the base. Each end portion has a length greater than the thickness of a connected wall to reinforce and strengthen the connected wall adjacent the one wall. The one wall further includes a removable gate receivable in the frame and extendable between the end portions. A groove is located in one of the removable gate and the frame. A projection is located on the other of the removable gate and the frame for receipt in the groove and engagement with an elastomeric seal to form a watertight seal in the one wall.

  • Patent number: 5303519
Abstract: A molded angle panel and method is disclosed. The preferred angle panel has two improved grooves for receiving tongues when being mounted to adjacent sidewalls when assembling a shower stall. These grooves allow the angle panel to be compression molded. The grooves are comprised of a groove surface located substantially adjacent the angle panel's face which is positioned such that its plane intersects the plane of a bearing surface. The planes of the groove surfaces are substantially parallel. The parallelism of the groove surfaces allows the mold halves to be separated upon the completion of the molding process. The third surface is an intermediate surface and is between the groove surface and the bearing surface. An alternative embodiment of the invention has two improved tongues for allowing the molding of the angle panel.

  • Patent number: 4508304
Abstract: Apparatus for mounting a wall hung laundry tub 10 or the like comprising a conventional mounting plate 16 secured to the wall 12 which is engageable with a ledge 14 formed near the top of the tub and a pair of side fillers 20 extending between the rear of the tub 18 and the wall which cover the plumbing access region behind the tub and maintain the spatial distance between the bottom of the tub and the wall to prevent the tub from cantilevering toward the wall. The side filler comprises a cover portion 22 and a load bearing portion 24 interconnected by structure defining a fold line 50 about which the portions are bent into a 90.degree. or L-shaped configuration. The side filler is constructed from a plastic material such as polypropylene and the interconnection is formed by a relatively narrow bridging section 50a defining a living hinge that enables the side filler to be folded along the fold line without fracturing or damaging the interconnecting structure.
