  • Patent number: 9531550
Abstract: A PoE-enabled wireless device facilitates providing wireless access to a local area network (LAN) by receiving power from an Ethernet cable. The device includes a first Ethernet port that can receive a power signal. The device also includes a second Ethernet port that facilitates coupling the apparatus to the LAN, and includes a wireless module to provide a wireless network connection to the LAN. Specifically, the wireless module receives power from the power signal of the first Ethernet port to provide the wireless network connection. The wireless device can also include a third Ethernet port for providing power and a network connection to a remote network device. The wireless device can use the third Ethernet port to send an external-reset signal to the remote network device, which facilitates remotely resetting a configuration of the remote network device without having to physically access the remote network device.

  • Patent number: 9531618
Abstract: A local controller maintains a local database which stores information associated with a set of interfacing devices of a local-area network. The local database can include a database mirror for a remote database, of a remote controller, that stores information for a set of provisioned interfacing devices. When a remote controller hosting the remote database is offline, the local controller can maintain primary control of interfacing devices within the local area network. However, when the local controller determines that the remote controller has come online, the local controller can rescind primary control of interfacing devices within the local area network to the remote controller.

  • Patent number: 9425978
Abstract: A device-controlling system configures, monitors, and controls one or more interfacing devices, such that an interfacing device can obtain and disseminate sensor data from one or more attached physical devices that include sensors for measuring physical attributes. During operation, the system can configure an interfacing device by establishing a network connection with an interfacing device, and determining one or more rules for the interfacing device. A rule can indicate an action description for performing an action, and indicates a condition that indicates criteria for processing the rule's action description. The system can configure the interfacing device to process its associated rules.

  • Patent number: 9398636
Abstract: The present invention offers significant improvements in the performance of a radio receiver operating in an environment with high desired band interference. The present invention comprises a high selectivity RF circuit that is located between the antenna and the radio receiver, and utilizes superheterodyne technology to filter adjacent channel interference in the desired band frequency spectrum. This type of interference is problematic for IEEE 802.11 radio receivers that are implemented with the popular direct conversion radio receiver architectures. The present invention may be utilized in many types of radio receivers.

  • Publication number: 20160119827
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for configuring an access point in a wireless network. During operation, the access point discovers one or more existing access points associated with the wireless network. The access point then obtains a set of configuration information from one existing access point, and synchronizes a local timestamp counter to a selected existing access point, thereby allowing the access point to be configured without using a centralized management station.

  • Publication number: 20160112074
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for simultaneously operating as a wireless radio and monitoring the local frequency spectrum. For example, described herein are wireless radio devices that use a secondary receiver to monitor frequencies within the operating band and prevent or avoid interferers, including in particular half-IF interferers. The systems, devices, and methods described herein may adjust the intermediate frequency in a superheterodyne receiver to select an intermediate frequency that minimizes interference. In particular, described herein are apparatuses and methods that use a second receiver which is independent of the first receiver and may be connected to the same receiving antenna to monitor the geographically local frequency spectrum and may detect spurious interferers, allowing the primary receiver to adjust the intermediate frequency and avoid spurious interferes.

Abstract: Multi-directional antenna assemblies including a plurality of individual antenna sections arranged in-line with a long axis, forming a linear assembly. An antenna assembly may include a radome over the linear assembly. A linear assembly may include three or more antenna sections, each with a trough-like reflector formed by two parallel walls, and may have corrugations at the outer edges to reduce noise. An array of radiators may be positioned at the base of each antenna section. The antenna sections may share a common vertical axis and each may have a beam axes that is offset by an angle. Adjacent antenna sections may be separated by an isolation plate with a corrugated outer edge. Each antenna section may radiate greater power in a specific direction as compared to the other antenna sections.

  • Publication number: 20160021040
Abstract: An interfacing device is configured to process one or more rules, based on sensor data, to perform a predetermined action. During operation, the device can detect a rule-triggering event, and can search a rule repository to obtain a set of rules whose action criteria is satisfied by the rule-triggering event. If the set of rules include a plurality of rules that are simultaneously triggered by the rule-triggered event, the local interfacing device may process the plurality of rules in a user-defined sequence.

  • Patent number: 9241345
Abstract: A communication system comprising one or more wireless stations programmed to await for an authorizing signal to initiate wireless communications with a network controller or access point. The network controller maintains identification information in different queues, said queues based upon the anticipated wireless station's activity. The wireless station identification information is moved between the different queues in response to this predicted activity. Between polling, each mobile station aggregates data for the next opportunity to transmit. Multi-polling may be employed such that more than a single station is polled at a time. Polling is accomplished by polling one of the more active stations along with a less active station. The less active station is unlikely to transmit, so collisions are avoided to a certain degree. If a lesser active station becomes active, it is moved into the more active queue and consequently will be polled more often.
