  • Publication number: 20130136784
Abstract: A method utilizing a dissolvable device for the internal delivery of medication and more particularly to the use of fibers or non-woven fabrics made of a safe polymer material incorporating a medication that is released by dissolution of the fibers or non-woven fabrics over time, and more particularly a treatment method for controlling or regulating the pH in the vagina by stabilizing and adjusting the pH in the vagina by minimizing the impact of the vaginal flora.

  • Patent number: 5393528
Abstract: A dissolvable element containing an agent material is used for local administration of the agent material in an internal body area. The dissolvable element is made of dissolvable polymer material and/or complex carbohydrate material which are food grade materials and have selected dissolving properties, such that it remains in substantially solid form before use, and dissolves due to human body temperatures and moisture during use to release the agent material in a desired timed release and dosage. As a contraceptive, the dissolvable element is preferably a film made of polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene oxide, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose and/or carboxymethyl cellulose. The dissolvable element may be formed as a laminate of different film layers for compound release properties, or it may be ground into particles and incorporated in a tampon or suppository. The dissolvable element may be foamed as a means for increasing its dissolution rate.

  • Patent number: 5228456
Abstract: A contraceptive diaphragm has a cup-shaped body molded from a thermoplastic or thermosetting material, and a rim formed with the diaphragm body having a thickness and an inner core structure sufficient to provide a desired bending resilience for use of the diaphragm without any metal spring therein. The thermoplastic or thermosetting material is preferably a silicone rubber. In one embodiment, the rim is molded with a solid inner core structure with a circular cross-section of between 0.060 to 0.375 inch outer diameter. In another embodiment, the rim is formed by an outer layer molded around an inner core in the form of a plastic, injection- or compression-molded ring. The molded plastic ring is preferably made of an acetal plastic material with an outer diameter of between 0.040 to 0.250 inch. The plastic ring may have two or more cutout portions formed spaced apart along its circumference for defining flexing points on the diaphragm rim.

  • Patent number: 4611720
Abstract: A merchandise display system is provided having a plurality of modular display racks adapted to be disposed in longitudinally aligned relationship and having a pair of elongated mounting ribs adapted to be disposed in longitudinally aligned relationship to the racks and to mechanically interconnect with the racks. The rails are adhesively secured to a supporting structure and fix the display racks with respect to that structure. Each display rack includes a generally horizontally disposed base support surface and an upstanding wall that is inclined rearwardly to form an upwardly opening, longitudinally extending V-shaped article supporting surface on which elongated articles of merchandise such as candles may be displayed in an upstanding position on the base support surface and reposed against the supporting wall.
