  • Patent number: 7481471
Abstract: A child safety barrier with a door secured in a U-shaped frame has a locking device which cannot be operated by children. The locking device has an activation unit which, when receiving a signal from a signal generator, releases the locking device so that the door may be opened or closed, which, in one embodiment, must take place within 2-4 seconds of the point of time when the signal generator is activated. The activation device may be formed by a mechanical activation mechanism, while the signal generator may be a push-button, an electric voltage or a remote control using a connection of the type IR, Bluetooth or the like. In a preferred embodiment, the activation device is connected with a push/pull rod whose one end is connected with a relay, while its other end is connected with a movable post extending inside a column in the U-shaped frame to which the door is secured.

  • Patent number: 7131235
Abstract: A child barrier for installation in a passage or the like comprises a frame with two side portions (4) which, in use, are positioned adjacent the walls of the passage, each side portion (4) carrying one or more vertically spaced abutment members (20) for engagement with an adjacent wall. The abutment members on at least one of the side portions is connected thereto by an adjustment mechanism, each adjustment mechanism comprising an elongate threaded member (18), one end of which is connected to the associated abutment member (20) and the other end of which is longitudinally slidably received in the associated side portion. Each adjustment mechanism also includes an adjustment member (24) in screw threaded engagement with the threaded member (18).

  • Publication number: 20040045222
Abstract: A safety gate assembly includes a generally U-shaped frame (3), which may be secured across a door opening, stairway or the like, and a gate (8), one side of which is connected by one or more pivotal connections (4, 7) to one side of the frame (3) to permit pivotal movement of the gate with respect to the frame about a pivotal axis and the other side of which carries a projecting latch member (9), which cooperates with a latch (1) connected to the other side of the frame. The latch (1) defines an entry (32) for the latch member and a locking position (36), in which pivotal movement of the gate (8) is prevented. The pivotal connections (4, 7) are constructed to permit linear movement of the gate relative to the frame (3) in the direction parallel to the pivotal axis.
