  • Patent number: 8879664
Abstract: Encoding of a message is conducted using codewords selected from a codebook. The selected codewords are used to construct a corresponding plurality of waveforms, which are then weighted and added to form a signal for transmission. At a receiver, channel impulse response is used to determine which codewords from the known codebook have been used, and by which weights from a known constellation of weights the resultant waveforms have been weighted. A message embedded in a received signal can then be detected.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 29, 2012
Date of Patent: November 4, 2014
    Assignee: The University of Bristol
Inventors: Robert Jan Piechocki, Dino Sejdinovic

  • Publication number: 20080292016
Abstract: This invention is generally concerned with methods, apparatus and processor control code for decoding a signal received over a MIMO (multiple input-multiple output) channel.

  • Publication number: 20080123727
Abstract: To reduce the number of components needed when compared with an exact-calculation analog equalizer, an analog equalizer includes an iterative mechanism arranged in operation to generate an estimate of marginal posterior expectations for received bit values.

    Applicant: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba
Inventors: Robert Jan Piechocki, Josep Vicent Solder Garrido
  • Publication number: 20040081074
Abstract: This invention generally relates to apparatus, methods and computer program code for decoding a received signal where the signal is received by a received antenna from a plurality of transmit antennas. The invention addresses the further difficulties which arise when only limited or known information for deriving an estimate of the responses of the channels between the transmit antennas and the receive antenna is available.
