    Abstract: The present invention relates to a terminal intended for crimped electrical connection to a conductor of flat configuration encased within an insulation sheath or jacket. The terminals is specifically suitable for penetrating through the insulation jacket and for encircling the conductor to establish a mechanical and electrical connection therewith. The terminal is provided with opposed pairs of sharpened teeth which are intended to be crimped or bent in curled relationship over the side margins of the flat configuration conductor, inwardly deforming or pinching the conductor side margins at a plurality of locations. The edges of the teeth are sharpened to insure penetration of the teeth through the insulation jacket to establish the desired electrical connection with the inwardly crimped portion of the conductor. The terminal teeth define clearances therebetween into which portions of the conductor side margins are forcibly wedged.

    Abstract: A carrier strip having a plurality of electrical terminals thereon is stamped and formed with alternating tab and recess portions. The carrier strip is adapted to be conveyed through an insertion machine which severs the terminals from the strip and inserts the terminals into a workpiece. To achieve closer spacing of the terminals and consequent increase in speed of terminal insertion within a workpiece, the carrier strip is adapted for stacking upon itself to provide multiple layers of carrier strips which are conveyed simultaneously to the insertion machine. For effective registration and interlocking of the stacked layers the carrier strip is purposely provided with a stamped and formed interlocking geometry. Multiple lengths of carrier strips according to the present invention may be conveyed simultaneously to an insertion machine where stacked registration is accomplished immediately prior to the insertion station of the machine.

    Abstract: A two piece dielectric housing is connected together by a rotatable shaft. Electrical contacts within the first housing member have the end portions thereof protruding for receipt into the second housing portion. The second housing portion is provided with receptacle passageways therethrough for plugging the housing onto male electrical terminals. When the male electrical terminals are received within the housing, the shaft is rotated to retract the housing second portion partially into the housing first portion. Stationary cam surfaces on the housing second portion then engage upon the contacts and bias them into electrical engagement with the male electrical terminals inserted within the housing. Such structure permits the receipt of the male electrical terminals within the housing without initial engagement upon the electrical contacts therein. Subsequently the contacts are biased into engagement with the male electrical terminals once they are fully inserted within the housing.
