  • Publication number: 20100193382
Abstract: A method of providing a surface of a material with an image, includes applying to the surface an image sheet included (i) a flexible layer of a Shape Memory Polymer, and (ii) an image bonded to said layer by means of an image key coat. The image sheet is bonded to the surface by means of an adhesive and a process which involves heating of the Shape Memory Polymer to a temperature above its Glass Transition Temperature.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 6, 2010
    Publication date: August 5, 2010

  • Patent number: 6929847
Abstract: A transfer material and method of use for transferring monochrome and full colour images produced by a xerographic process or dry toner printing onto a substrate. The process requires the use of film form polymethylpentene material as the transfer material which is used to transfer the xerographic or dry toner image onto the substrate with the application of heat and pressure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 17, 1995
Date of Patent: August 16, 2005
    Assignee: Xyron UK Limited

  • Patent number: 6656306
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for preparing a pressure and/or heat applied image transfer sheet and applying an image therefrom to a target surface comprising: applying an image layer to an image area of an image release system on a support, the image release system comprising an image release surface; applying a pressure and/or heat activated adhesive layer over i) the image release system including the image area, and/or ii) at least a portion of the target surface, which adhesive layer adheres more strongly to the image layer than the image layer does to the release surface; contacting, with the application of pressure and/or heat, the target surface and the image transfer sheet such that the dried adhesive layer attaches only in the image area to i) the target surface and/or ii) the image transfer sheet; and peeling off the support together with the adhesive layer except for the image area which is left attached to the target surface.

  • Patent number: 6198898
Abstract: The invention is a process for printing full color images with no discernible loss of quality from an initial image carrier onto the surface of diverse media, including paper, card, cardboard, glass, metal, wood, plastics materials and fabrics and textile materials including knitted and woven materials. The process involves the use of polyethylene naphthalate film having special qualities for transferring the initial image from an initial surface on which it is provided onto the final surface. Techniques are discloses for enhancing transferred images.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1998
Date of Patent: March 6, 2001
