Patent number: 10296993Abstract: A method of defining a performance milestone track for a planned process includes: selecting a time range relating to a repeatable process to define a set of average assessment trajectories, retrieving historical data representative of assessment data for actors in conjunction with selective assessments of the actors during performances of the repeatable process. The historical data includes an assessment parameter identifying a value for the selective assessment. The method includes processing a select time portion of the historical data using a binning algorithm to assign historical data for the select time portion across quantile range bins based on select ranges of assessment parameter values for the historical data and separately processing a select actor portion of the historical data for each quantile range bin using a smoothing algorithm to form the set of average assessment trajectories for the repeatable process. A computational device for performing the method is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2014Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Assignee: Conduent Business Services, LLCInventors: Timothy W. Jacobs, Robert John Rolleston

Patent number: 8984402Abstract: Methods and a system for an electronic device to allow for indicating a size or scale of a rendering in a three dimensional view. A virtual scene is displayed on a display with a work product that is rendered, such as a document or packaging request having a job ticket. The rendering is provided with a common object that is a three dimensional virtual object that relates size to the document or packaging for approval in the proofing process. A quick visual cue is therefore provided to visually convey a realistic scale in proportion to the product rendered three dimensionally.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2010Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Robert John Rolleston, Alan Thomas Cote, Neil R. Sembower, Jeffrey David Kingsley

Patent number: 8884969Abstract: A method and system for providing three-dimensional preview of a finished document based on a key feature analysis. The document can be analyzed by a document analysis algorithm configured in association with a document visualization module in order to identify a number of key features associated with the document. A viewing script can be created with respect to the key features of the document in order to drive a visualization engine. A document-specific visual animation of the key features can be visually displayed based on the viewing script at a user interface in order to preview the finished document. A list of critical features with respect to the document can be selected and previewed by a user via a set of media controls displayed at the user interface.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Paul Edward Dangler, Robert John Rolleston

Method for visual asset replacement accounting for cost, copyright, and confidentiality requirements
Patent number: 8745068Abstract: Systems and methods of replacing digital assets within a multimedia document are provided. The systems and methods include a user workstation that can receive a selection from a user for an original asset in the document to be replaced. Alternative assets can be retrieved that have a level of appropriateness with the selected original asset. Constraints on use of the alternative assets can be determined and a fitness value of each of the alternative assets can be calculated based on the appropriateness and the constraints on use. The alternative assets with the highest fitness values can be presented to the user for the user to select to replace the original asset.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2009Date of Patent: June 3, 2014Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Tommaso Colombino, Robert John Rolleston, Luca Marchesotti -
Patent number: 8681179Abstract: A method and system for coordinating placement of an augmented reality/virtual world object(s) into a scene relative to position and orientation. The object(s) can be connected to an anchor point having an absolute location relative to the marker via a connector (e.g., spring-like connector) in such a way that the behavior of the object responds to a physical force and a collision which exists in the augmented reality scene. The connection between the virtual object and location of the marker permits the object to exactly track the marker when there are no real world collisions between the markers. The virtual objects can be displaced so the objects do not pass through one another when the real world markers come into a close spatial proximity and the corresponding virtual objects begin to collide.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2011Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Robert John Rolleston, Jeffrey David Kingsley, Jia Wang

Publication number: 20120066648Abstract: Methods and a system for manipulating objects in a 3D virtual scene are disclosed. Two different mechanisms are used for a user interface, including a first hand and a second hand of a user. The first hand manipulates translational manipulation of the virtual object, such as displacement of the object in three orthogonal planes. The second hand manipulates rotational manipulation of the object. While the interface uses and recognizes different hands for manipulation of the object, it also uses three digits or fingers of different hands to control height, speed, translational and rotational movements.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2010Publication date: March 15, 2012Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Robert John Rolleston, Jeffrey David Kingsley, Paulo Goncalves de Barros

Patent number: 7557955Abstract: A method and system are provided for producing a print that substantially corresponds to the colorimetric attributes of a corresponding proof for an electronic source file. The method and system entail creating a first raster file corresponding to the electronic source file and a second raster file corresponding to the proof. The first and second raster files are aligned to insure a spatial correlation, and a color conversion data structure is built by comparing the aligned first and second raster files. The color conversion data structure is then used to convert the first raster file to a color converted output file. The color converted output file is color transformed to an output file which is then used to produce the print. The print substantially corresponds to the colorimetric attributes of the corresponding proof for the electronic source file.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2005Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Sang-Chul Kang, Robert John Rolleston, Martin Sidney Maltz, Charles Michael Hains
