  • Publication number: 20240068670
Abstract: An oven appliance may include a cabinet, a heating element, and a controller. The cabinet may define a cooking chamber. The heating element may be in thermal communication with the cooking chamber to heat a cooking utensil therein. The controller may be in operable communication with the heating element. The controller may be configured to initiate a directed cooking operation. The directed cooking operation may include capturing a first image of the cooking chamber, identifying the cooking utensil within the cooking chamber based on the captured first image, capturing a second image of the cooking chamber following capturing the first image, detecting changes in the cooking utensil based on the captured second image, and directing oven operation based on the detected changes.

  • Publication number: 20160213187
Abstract: A method for operating an appliance. The method includes establishing a current date and time of day and automatically shifting the appliance to a Sabbath operating mode when the current date and time of day is Sabbath. A related appliance having a controller that is configured for automatically shifting the appliance to a Sabbath operating mode when a current date and time of day of a clock corresponds to Sabbath is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9214798
Abstract: A range infinite switch including a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) subsystem is provided. The GFCI subsystem operates a solenoid and plunger arrangement that activates a mechanical interlock within the switch permitting axial movement of a cam customarily used to bias temperature controlling contacts within the switch. Upon detection of a ground fault the latching mechanism is released and the cam moves to a position where the temperature controlling contacts are opened so as to disconnect power to a range heating element. In an appliance having more than one heating element, each heating element would be separately protected from ground fault conditions by use of the disclosed switch.
