  • Patent number: 11994528
Abstract: Purifying target biomolecules, such as nucleic acids or proteins, from a biological source is a time intensive process and is typically performed by a skilled technician or scientist owing to the highly technical nature of the work. Systems, devices, and methods disclosed herein enable the automated bioprocessing and purification of target biomolecules from a biological source. For example, an instrument and disposable cartridge are provided for automatedly isolating and purifying nucleic acids (such as plasmid DNA from a bacterial culture) or for isolating protein from any biological sample. Such an exemplary instrument and cartridge can work in concert to timely release, mix, and move the target biomolecule and various reagents and buffers through a target biomolecule purification process, resulting in a purified target biomolecule with less manual oversight than traditional approaches.

  • Patent number: 11983100
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for automated testing of systems and applications. A first computing device may be in data communication with a second computing device. The first computing device can receive a fault instruction specifying receive a fault instruction specifying a fault to inject into a virtual compute instance, parameters for the fault, a duration of the fault, and an identifier of the virtual compute instance. The first computing device can then send a command to a second computing device that hosts the virtual compute instance, wherein the command specifies at least the fault, the parameters for the fault, and the virtual compute instance. In turn, the second computing device can receive the command from the first computing device, save a pre-fault state of the virtual compute instance, and then introduce the fault into the virtual compute instance.

  • Publication number: 20240093094
Abstract: A process is hereby provided for permanently (>1000 years) reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The process involves the cultivation of tree and plant waste (biomass), the conversion of the biomass in a reactor to a carbon product, e.g., charcoal, and subsequent storage of the carbon product. The reactor used for conversion is run at a low temperature, e.g., 300-450° C. Thus, there is negligible cracking. The product is primarily a solid carbon product, which is safe and can be easily handled. The carbon product can also be safely stored. In one embodiment, the carbon product is buried in a location that is tested for limited oxygen at burial depths. The permanence of the CO2 reduction is therefore assured.

  • Publication number: 20240091832
Abstract: Provided is a process for converting biomass waste to a solid carbon product. The process comprises passing the biomass waste batchwise into a reactor comprising a twin screw conveyor. The reactor is heated at a temperature of, e.g., 300-450° C. to avoid cracking of the hydrocarbons in the biomass waste. The biomass waste is passed with heating and mixing along the length of the reactor, and a solid carbon product is collected from the reactor. The solid carbon products can be buried to provide a more permanent removal of the carbon.
