  • Patent number: 5369352
Abstract: An adapter for an electric vehicle is provided which imposes an identification signal on the outlet voltage to inform the battery charger of the characteristics of the outlet (e.g., the maximum current and voltage) to allow the battery charger to charge at the maximum possible rate allowable by the outlet.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5336934
Abstract: An electrical connection and interlock circuit system (20) operates between a battery (14) and a drive motor (16) of a vehicle electric drive. Circuit system (20) includes a connection circuit (22) having first and second connectors (24) and (26) for energizing the drive motor (16) by the battery (14) and also includes an interlock circuit (28) that operates to electrically disconnect the connection circuit when either connector is in a partially connected position. The circuit system (20) also includes a power connector housing (46) at which the second connector (26) is located along with a third connector (66) that is connected to the drive motor (16), and a mechanical interlock (66) prevents disconnection of the third connector until after the second connector is disconnected so that there is no power at the third connector during its connection or disconnection.

  • Patent number: 5305513
Abstract: A vehicle battery decking device for installing and removing vehicle batteries from a vehicle chassis using a battery tray and a plurality of hydraulic cylinders attached at a first end to the battery tray and attached at a second end to the vehicle chassis in which the battery is being installed or removed.

  • Patent number: 5277081
Abstract: A parking brake apparatus for use in a motor vehicle, mounted on a floor member which operatively connects a hand-operated brake actuator to a wheel brake is disclosed. The parking brake apparatus comprises a link member for reversing and transmitting an input force from the brake actuator to an output force on a cable linkage. The apparatus allows a hand operated parking brake actuator to be used in a vehicle with a cable linkage routed into the front of the actuator rather than into the rear of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5235075
Abstract: A process for purifying propylene oxide containing an unacceptable quantity of poly(propylene oxide) contaminant having a molecular weight of at least about 50,000, which comprises contacting the so-contaminated propylene oxide with a quantity of a substantially non-calcined diatomaceous earth for a time and under conditions sufficient to reduce the amount of such contaminant in such propylene oxide to acceptable levels, and recovering the purified propylene oxide product. Also, processes for making polyether polyols from such purified propylene oxide products, and for making high resilient flexible polyurethane foams from such polyols.

  • Patent number: 4712942
Abstract: Joint maker for the assembly of two or more pieces of stock about common interconnecting members. The joint maker includes a plurality of configured arms about common interconnecting members for either assembling stock at a right angle, or at other angles with respect to each other, whether there are two or more pieces of stock. The joint maker includes angularly inwardly extending cleats which extend from the arms, and arms extending from a common interconnecting member. Each of the cleats have an inwardly extending member.

  • Patent number: 4054163
Abstract: A tire inflator includes a pressure vessel filled with non-flammable compressed gas. A tubular valve housing is secured within the inflator outlet and includes radial ports opening to the bore of the housing and located adjacent an outer apertured end wall. A tubular valve body is slidable within the housing bore and includes a conventional tire valve. The inner ends of the housing and valve body each include a slightly raised rib in concentric relationship. A rupturable diaphragm secured to the ribs locates the valve body relative to the housing and seals the space therebetween. Over pressure in the vessel ruptures the diaphragm between the valve body and housing and moves the valve body outwardly into engagement with the end wall of the housing. The pressure fluid within the pressure vessel escapes to atmosphere through the space between the valve body and housing and through the radial ports.
