  • Patent number: 6722164
Abstract: An elastic web fabric and method for producing the same. The resulting fabric is curl-free and has bi-directional stretch of between about 50-125% stretch in the width direction and 50-200% stretch in the length direction. In the preferred embodiment, the fabric includes a center marker formed from a two-needle shift of two rubbers to provide a centering line to aid in assembly of a finished article. Also, in the preferred embodiment, the left top edge of the fabric has about six rubbers and the right top edge has about 5 rubbers to prevent curling to produce a fabric which is more easily cut and fabricated into the finished article.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 12, 1998
Date of Patent: April 20, 2004
    Assignee: Beech Island Knitting Company
Inventors: Robert K. Ives, Larry T. Mitchell, Jr.
  • Patent number: 6079236
Abstract: An elastic knitted band having stretch woven appearance and feel including filling yarn laid in between the warp yarn needles. The filling yarns are secured to the elastic band by the conventional warp yarn chain stitches so as to become an integral component of the elastic knit band without creating warp or filling ridges. The filling yarns can be positioned: (1) in front of the back weft yarns; (2) behind the front weft yarns; or (3) in between front and back elastomer bars separating the elastomer threads. The filling yarn preferably is textured yarn.

In the preferred embodiment, the fabric includes a center marker formed from a two-needle shift of two rubber yarns to provide a centering line to aid in assembly of a finished article. Also, in the preferred embodiment, the left top edge of the fabric has about six rubber yarns and the right top edge has about 5 rubber yarns to prevent curling to produce a fabric which is more easily cut and fabricated into the finished article.

  • Patent number: 5067267
Abstract: A swivel for attaching a sling to a firearm including a plunger depressible for quick detachment of the swivel from the firearm and a selectively operable retainer movably mounted on the plunger for locking the swivel to the firearm when moved to an operative first position. In the operative first position, the retainer is rotatable on a smaller diameter portion of the plunger without being compelled into axial movement therealong, but can be manipulated into a mated position with a threaded larger-diameter portion of the plunger and then into an opposed position where an enlarged head on the plunger opposes a resiliently expansible tapered sleeve on the retainer. With progressively increasing torque, the retainer is then advanceable to an inoperative second position that permits sufficient depression of the plunger to allow release the swivel from the firearm.

  • Patent number: 4924615
Abstract: A retention device for preventing inadvertent release of a shoulder sling from a firearm is provided in the form of a clip having first, second, third and terminal expanses that define a substantially right rectangle and surround the body and gate of the detachable assembly when the gate is in its closed position relative to the body. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the clip is generally U-shaped, with a first planar expanse joining the second and third planar expanses that extend in the same direction therefrom, with the first expanse having a hole formed therein for receiving therethrough the depressible plunger of the detachable assembly. Preferably the clip is integrally formed and its resilience permits the beveled, free ends of the second and third expanses temporarily to be wedged apart as the clip is installed on the detachable assembly.

  • Patent number: 4454675
Abstract: A locking, quick-detachable-type firearm sling swivel having a gate which is shiftable, under the influence of a spring-biased plunger, between open and closed positions to enable mounting, demounting and securing of the swivel on a mounting base. Provided for locking the plunger positively and selectively against manipulation to effect opening of the gate is a position-changeable locking element mounted on the plunger for adjustment into and out of effective reactive engagement with the swivel's body. The locking element is captured on the plunger to prevent its inadvertent removal.

  • Patent number: 4163335
Abstract: A nipple usable to ignite a propellent charge in a firearm of the type which employs a percussive firing cap. The nipple includes an elongate body having, adjacent one end, a cap-receiving portion, and adjacent the opposite end, a mounting portion. Extending axially into the nipple, through the cap-receiving portion, is an elongate firing chamber. The outer surface of the cap-receiving portion is dimensioned to receive a firing cap, with the sides of the cap closely confronting such surface. A pair of diametrically opposed ports extend between and open to the firing chamber and to locations on the cap-receiving surface of the nipple, which locations are covered by the sides of the cap when the same is mounted in place.
