  • Patent number: 10976258
Abstract: The invention relates to a porous planar cell capture system for use in determining the presence and/or amount of cells, for example, viable cells, in a liquid sample, and to methods of using such a cell capture system. The cell capture system contains a fluid permeable, planar membrane adopted to retain cells thereon, a fluid permeable support member that supports the membrane, and an optional register associated with the membrane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 25, 2019
Date of Patent: April 13, 2021
Assignees: Charles River Laboratories, Inc., ReaMetrix Inc.
Inventors: Norman R. Wainwright, Bala S. Manian, Eric Stimpson, Brian J. Kolonia, Robert K. Kolonia
  • Patent number: 10584516
Abstract: A modular latch bar is formed from a first segment that is configured to be connected to a locker handle and one or more extension segments which are attached to the first segment. One of the segments has an elongated body having a front surface, a back surface, a first end and a second end; and a T-shaped locking tab extending from the first end. Another segment has an elongated body having a front surface, a back surface, a first end and a second end. This segment has a T-shaped recess on the back surface. The T-shaped recess is sized and configured to receive the T-shaped locking tab and create a friction fit between the T-shaped locking tab and segment having the T-shaped recess. A post may be provided in the recess that fits into a hole in the T-shaped locking tab to provide a snap fit connection.

  • Publication number: 20180120231
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining the presence and/or amount of viable cells in a liquid sample. The method includes (a) labeling with a fluorescent label viable cells remaining on a porous membrane after passing the liquid sample therethrough, (b) scanning a portion of the porous membrane by rotating the porous membrane relative to a detection system, and (c) determining the presence and/or quantity of viable cells captured by the membrane.
