  • Publication number: 20080311159
Abstract: The invention identifies a narrow subset of Mycobacterium latency associated antigens and or epitopes that are capable of eliciting an immune response in vivo and in vitro in a mammal. The invention provides methods and compositions for detection and immunization against latent Mycobacterium infections. These compositions comprise those Mycobacterial latency antigens that are actually capable of eliciting an immune response in vivo, in mammals experiencing a latent Mycobacterium infection. More preferably the compositions comprise those antigens that are preferentially recognized by latently infected individuals and which antigens are not, or to a much lesser extent, recognized in individuals having an active Mycobacterium infection or in individuals having Mycobacterium induced symptoms or diseases, such as in patients infected with M. tuberculosis suffering from tuberculosis disease (TB).

  • Publication number: 20070278064
Abstract: A method and device for evaluating currency bills using a strapping unit that allows a currency evaluating device to automatically strap stacks of currency bills. Currency bills are placed in an input receptacle and an evaluating unit processes each currency bill one at a time. The currency bills are then transported to a plurality of output receptacles. A stack moving mechanism transports a stack of currency bills, which contains a predetermined number of currency bills, from each of the plurality of output receptacles to the strapping unit or a strapping position. Each stack of currency bills is strapped using strapping material.

  • Publication number: 20070270786
Abstract: A method for accelerating the set time of acrylic bones cements uses ultrasonic energy. Typically acrylic bone cements comprise a mixture of a liquid monomer and a powdered polymer which sets over a period of time to form a hardened material. After the bone cement has been placed in the body the polymerization rate or set time may be increased by the application of ultrasonic sound energy. A horn of an ultrasonic generator is placed in or adjacent to the unset bone cement mixture and acoustic energy is applied which energy accelerates the set time. Typically the frequency is in the range of 20 KHz and an amplitude of between 5 and 30 ?m with an application time of between 40 seconds and 2 minutes.

  • Publication number: 20070078560
Abstract: A document processing device having an evaluation region disposed along a transport path between an input and output receptacle capable of processing both currency bills and identification cards. An evaluation unit enables entry of source identification information before or after processing currency bills. Memory is adapted to store source identification information for multiple batches of currency. Multiple batches are placed in the processing device for multiple batch processing. The evaluation region includes detectors for detecting predetermined characteristics of currency bills and distinguishing identification cards from currency. During processing, the identification card, or other separator card, is sent to a predetermined output receptacle designated as a reject receptacle. Currency that is rejected is sent to the reject receptacle. Rejected currency is separated into batches by the identification cards sent to the reject receptacle during processing.
