Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for one-to-many and many-to-many ranging using narrowband assisted (NBA)-multi-millisecond (MMS) ultra wideband (UWB) protocols. Some embodiments include an initiator device that communicates with many responder devices. For example, the initiator device can transmit a control/initialization poll message via NB signaling that identifies a ranging cycle, and transmit a first set of MMS segments corresponding to the control/initialization poll message. The initiator device can receive a plurality of report frames from two or more responder devices via NB signaling subsequent to transmitting the first set of MMS segments, and transmit within the ranging cycle, a ranging results report message based at least on the plurality of report frames via narrowband signaling.

Abstract: An osteotomy guide for indicating the femoral neck resection on a femur and its method of use are presented. The osteotomy guide includes an indexing feature for aligning the guide with an anatomic landmark and a resection guide for indicating the resection relative to the indexing feature.

Abstract: A bone reaming apparatus includes a rasp and a shaft coupled to the rasp. At least a first portion of the shaft is rotatable about an axis, and at least a portion of the rasp is extendable away from the axis. A method for removing a mass from a bone includes drilling a bore into the bone, and expansively reaming a portion of the bore until the mass is removed from the bone. A method for removing a femoral head from a proximal femur includes drilling a bore into the femoral head, and expansively reaming a portion of the bore until the femoral head is removed from the proximal femur.

Abstract: A technique is provided for interconnecting an embedded antenna with external circuitry. The antenna may be formed on an intermediate layer of a layered structure, such as a laminate. The interconnection may be made by providing an aperture through the laminate structure and a terminal pad of the antenna, and making a physical connection by means of a fastener or similar structure extending through the laminate structure. A conductive fluid or other intermediary material such as epoxy may be provided between the fastener and the embedded antenna terminal pad. Similar connection may be made by capacitive coupling with a terminal pad on an exterior surface of the laminate structure.

Abstract: A compound formable decorative laminate includes a decorative layer composed of a bilaterally stretchable polyolefin decorative sheet and a resin impregnated core layer composed of a bilaterally stretchable kraft paper. The laminate is formed by providing a decorative sheet composed of a polyolefin that is bilaterally stretchable, providing a kraft paper that is bilaterally stretchable,—impregnating the kraft paper with a resin, layering the decorative sheet and the kraft paper, and—consolidating the layered decorative sheet and kraft paper under heat and pressure to form a sheet of decorative laminate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing a minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty including an acetabular cup inserter is provided. The cup inserter is utilized for securing a prosthetic acetabular component thereto for implantation into a hip joint. The acetabular cup inserter includes a frame having an offset frame leg to allow for placement of an acetabular cup in the correct anteversion and abduction without interference from soft tissue.

Abstract: A cable passing apparatus useful in passing a cable around a bone. The cable is used to repair broken bone during an orthopaedic surgery. The cable passer comprises a cannulated internal assembly that is extendable at least partially around a bone. A cable suitable for surgical applications can be threaded through the apparatus and removed as desired.

Abstract: A reamer for reaming a uniform opening in an intramedullary canal of a bone. The reamer has an impeller rigidly attached to the shaft of the reamer proximal to the reamer head. The impeller blades have a pitch higher than the pitch of the reamer head flutes. The increased pitch between the impeller blades and the reamer head flutes produces a partial vacuum while the unit is turning, pulling debris up and out of the bony canal and reducing pressure in the intramedullary canal.

Abstract: An improved aerobic waste treatment package which both simplifies maintenance of the system and increases the interval between necessary maintenance through the use of a removable surge bowl which forms part of a centrally disposed, large capacity, surge chamber positioned above the waste treatment holding tank. The package also simplifies maintenance by permitting removal of the surge bowl without disconnecting the electrical connections to the package and through the use of a simplified system for suspending porous filter bags from a hanger plate extending across the top of the holding tank.
