Patent number: 11949354Abstract: A system comprising a synchronous three-phase electric motor and a controller is provided. The synchronous three-phase electric motor comprises a rotor, a stator, a plurality of coils, and a plurality of switching devices. The plurality of coils formed from conductive windings each wound around one or more of a plurality of stator teeth of the stator. The plurality of coils comprises a plurality of permanent coils and a plurality of bypass coils. The plurality of switching devices configured to selectively switch between a tapped position and a primary position. The controller is configured to provide a first switching command to the plurality of switching devices to switch from the primary position to the tapped position based on a transition signal. The transition signal is based on comparing an electrical characteristic associated with one or more input currents to the plurality of switching devices with a threshold value.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2022Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: ABB Schweiz AGInventors: Frederick L. Patent number: 11007096Abstract: The present invention relates generally to an external condenser and light assembly and, more particularly, to an improved external air conditioning condenser and housing that is designed to additionally serve as a light assembly for an emergency vehicle. The condenser housing is mounted to the exterior of the emergency vehicle, which improves the performance of the emergency vehicle's air-conditioning system. The design of the condenser housing also allows it to serve as a light assembly on which emergency vehicle lights are mounted. The condenser housing and light assembly structure thereby provides for proper air conditioning functionality without occupying space on the exterior of the vehicle that would more preferably be occupied by emergency lighting.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2014Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: REV Ambulance Group Orlando, Inc.Inventors: Scott L. Barnes, Herschel W. Davis, Jr., Matthew W. Grafton, Robert L. Collins
