  • Patent number: 5140791
Abstract: A floor construction includes a metal floor decking having a plurality of parallel multi-cell cellular metal floor raceways each of which includes at least one cell for high voltage power wiring. This one cell has a first wiring opening defined in a top thereof. A limited access feeder raceway transversely spans and rests upon the cellular metal floor raceways. The feeder raceway includes an enclosed first wiring raceway separating bottomless second and third wiring raceways. The enclosed first wiring raceway has a plurality of spaced second wiring openings defined through a bottom thereof, one of said second wiring openings being located directly above and in registry with each of the first wiring openings. The feeder raceway includes a closed top having a plurality of spaced access openings defined therethrough, one of which access openings is located directly above each of the second wiring openings.

  • Patent number: 4931597
Abstract: A junction box apparatus for an electrical raceway system to be placed in a floor includes a base and a removable access unit. A removable tunnel insert is provided which can be inserted down through the access unit after the access unit is mounted upon the base. The tunnel insert defines a plurality of passages through the junction box. A removable extension collar is also provided which is adapted to be sandwiched between the base and the access unit for determining a nominal height of the junction box apparatus. Also, removable duct separators having spring metal clips with serrated edges are provided which are adapted to be connected to the base for separating a plurality of ducts received in the duct openings. By a combination of the removable tunnel insert, the removable extension collar, and the removable duct separators, a basic base and access unit assembly can be readily modified to be compatible with a plurality of duct combinations and arrangements and a plurality of floor thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 4899506
Abstract: A floor construction includes a concrete floor having a main duct embedded in the concrete floor. The main duct has a bottom and a top, with the top being covered by the concrete floor. A service fitting includes a service box and an auxiliary duct means. The service box is located adjacent a side of the main duct and has a plan area and a capacity substantially equal to at least that plan area times a depth of the concrete floor above the bottom of the main duct. The auxiliary duct lays transversely across the top of the main duct and is attached thereto for providing a passage for wiring from the main duct to the service box. The main duct preferably is a multi-cell duct, and the auxiliary duct includes dividers dividing the auxiliary duct into passageways corresponding to the cells of the main duct. This construction provides for a greatly increased capacity for the service fitting in concrete floors of minimum depths.
